Do they check IDs or anything for DDE cards?

Are names even on them? Or just a number? If we have one card for our family, can either dh or I go to a CS and pick up food for everyone, or just whichever of us has the card in their name? Same with TS...what if the cardholder decides to stay in our room while the other parent takes the kids to breakfast? I saw on allears that a second card for the spouse is $25...it'd be convenient, but no way am I paying additional for it.

TIA!

Name and expy date are on the card. I have used it without ID having just my room card ( a few years ago) when they gave you two cards, then the last year we had it I had it put in DHs name since I never carry anything except room key once we check in. I guess it's up to the establishment as to how closely they enforce the rules.

Only CS that allows DDE discount is the food courts at the values or mods that have no TS onsite. Tusker House used to take it but that has changed since they are becoming TS in November.

You should have ID with you, just in case. They have never asked for my ID--but others report that they have ALWAYS been asked for their ID.

We were asked for ID at two of the numerous places we used it last time. Garden Grill and California Grill. Don't know why there and no place else?

For the past two years I've been asked for my DL every single time and the CM has taken it with them when the run the check. On a trip last summer we brought my wife's DDE card instead and realized it the first night at Jiko when the CM told me my ID didn't match the card's name. I'd bring and ID just to be on the safe side.

I've always had it ready, and we actually purchased the second card just in case my wife went her separate way, but in dozens of uses I've never once been asked for an ID.

Since your name is on it, I would imagine that if a man tried to use a card with a woman's name on it, it would be an issue. Only one person is entitled to use it. I have been asked for ID while using it at POP. Imagine my surprise when the cashier asked for ID. Ah, I don't carry ID with me when I'm getting breakfast to take back to my room!!! She let it go but told me that CM's are supposed to check ID's when taking DDE cards. So, be prepared.
Besides, the DDE card is good for TS mostly, not many CS meals..only where there are no TS meals offered.

I just quickly glanced through the list and must've seen a couple resort CS and assumed most CS was covered. Thank y'all for catching me on that. Now I've got more numbers to run. :teacher:

I didn't think about what KIND of ID is needed when requested. I'm hoping a matching name on my room key will do. DH drove to the airport and I didn't even take my driver's license last trip.

Name is on the card.
I have frequently been asked to show photo ID.(this can vary greatly depending on CM)
Discounts are not available at CS except at AK and now that the Yak and Yeti is opening it may change for next year.

Only counter service meals that are covered are those in resorts/parks with no table service.....POP, AK.
Then, when I had my 'issue' at POP, I tried to use my room key as ID. Nope, the CM told me that someone could have stolen my wallet, or just picked it up after it fel out of my bag, and then tried to use my cards, both for eating (using the DDE card) and charging stuff using my room key. She wanted to see a photo ID. Told her I didn't carry it with me when going to the food court for a take out breakfast. I did after that experience.

I have never been asked for ID. Not once. I do generally use my room key to pay for stuff, maybe that makes a difference? I dunno.

The server who refused to let me use my DDE card because I didn't happen to bring a Driver's License with me would be the server that got no tip.

I'm glad to hear that! It's always worried me about what may happen if we lose our room key. But I have to say that I was only asked for my ID a couple of times when charging on the room key last trip - and the kids weren't asked at all.

I'll continue to guard my room key as if my life depended on it. ;)

If you didn't take your driver's license your last trip, how on earth did you get through airport security???

Unfortunatly, it was a cashier at POP's food court. No tip would have occured in any case. I don't have a problem with asking for an ID, as long as it's consistent. In fact, I think it's a good idea. less room for mistakes. And since I usually pay with my room key, it wouldn't be an issue.

Add me to the list of people who have been asked for ID. At the food court too.

We are asked for ID about 70% of the time. Other times, we are paying with room key..so basically that is our id.

We always get the second card...the fee is paid for in one long weekend of dining.

Add us to the list too! We seem to get asked for an ID everytime we use our DDE card at Pop Century. The card is in my husband's name, so I don't even try to use it anymore. When I had my own card before the rule changed, my daughter tried to use the card while I has getting the babies settled in at the table at Pop and they wouldn't let her. We had to switch places to use the card for the discount. At table service they don't usually ask for an ID, but believe that is because we always use our room key too which has our name on it that matches the DDE card.

this past APril, I was asked maybe ONCE during the 8 days we were there......and it was only at the food court. The TS restaurants that we went to didnt ask. The year before I was asked maybe five or so times.....I always carry my ID with me because sometimes in the parks our AP doesnt want to work right and they ask for my ID to prove I am who is on that card.....so having the ID is not an issue.
We do not have a DDE or an AP for this next trip in a few days but will get it again in May........It is worth getting !!
