Do they check child proof of age at SW?

Hi,

my youngest son just turned 10 and I was wondering if they check childs age on admission and buffet tickets. I really cant imagine him eating more than a hotdog at one of these dinners and hate to pay 25-40 bucks for his meal.

wondering if I can pass him off as still 9 ?

no, it is not recommended you try and pass your son off as 9.

That seems to be a response to the moral dilema of another similar thread, however it is not an answer to the question asked by the original poster.

You asked if they check proof of age. How would they unless you carry around a birth certificate all the time? I am not aware of the park asking for proof of age. They are very unlikely to to ask unless your child looks much older than he is. Even then they would probably just question you and the child. It would be a moral dilema, however if they did ask and your child was forced to lie.

As I recall from the other thread, there are those who think its morally wrong to lie about age, period. On the other side there are those who say do what you need to do and take your chances.

Whatever you would do at a movie theater, restaurant, or amusement park at home is probably the answer to your question.

Recently, my DD was asked her age at the gate(not a big deal as we have the correct ticket). Also GS later did ask if she had any ID. (There was an issue with her ticket). Not common, but it can happen.

Agreed, In my heart I know it is wrong and I will pay full price for his age. I think my question came from disbelief that the adult tickets start at age 10.

I have noticed that if you are a Florida resident, the age for adult starts at 14 for ticket purchase at SW. Much more in line with reality.

I guess is if SW can get away with extra cash grab from visitors, they will.
My kids love the sea animals and want to see them close, and SW is still the least expensive option by far.

We really don't fit into any family vacation package because we have 4 kids, and this will likely be our only trip south while our kids are kids

I know Florida will be beautiful, and if the kids see a palm tree they will be satisfied. lol!

I wanted to mention that SW is not the only park that charges "adult" prices for 10 year olds. Disney does as well. I think so does Universal. It seems once one park does it they all do it LOL.

You may be able to add a second day admission to SW for free with your paid ticket. (Ask at guest services in the park)

You mentioned your kids like the animals. There are several animals in the park you can feed for a small fee(seal lion, dolphins and rays) that you may not want to miss. If you want to feed the Dolphins, try and go early as people line up to buy the food.

We will definitely try to feed the dolphins while there. The price for the fish is worth it.
This is the only park we are visiting, so if we can manage, we might return for a 2nd day. The rest of the time relaxing on the beach and taking in the sights

My 6 year old is expecting coconuts in the palm trees LOL

I understand that 10 seems so young for an adult ticket but I believe that is about the age when they are either tall enough for all the attractions or will actually go on them. It seems wierd but true. I wish there was a junior price for meals though because I agree most 10 year kids don't eat an adult portion. However I would budget for an adult price across the board for your 10 year child. Just my thoughts.
