If I want to take my dd to the princess breakfast in Norway, is it possible for me to take her in and not eat myself so as to not waste one of my table services on this??? I know she will need to use hers, but do I have to if I don't eat? Is it possible to do this other places?? I think it is because last trip I had a stomach virus and I didn't eat when everyone else was at PT 50's, but I ddon't know how that works at buffets, etc.... I would think they can't make you eat, but then again, maybe they don't have to let you in either.

At buffets, they charge by the head count. You won't be able to do it.

Thanks Briar Rosie. Is Norway princess storybook bf considered a buffet?

Not possible at character meals/places that are all you can eat, either pre-plated or buffet style, which Norway is. It has a menu (all you can eat) but also has a buffet as well (all you can eat).

They will charge you regardless.I know at LTT in Mk they used to just charge an entertainment fee for spectators not dining. But they might have stopped it too since the dining plan has increased in popularity:goodvibes

I had weight loss surgery 2 years ago and buffets are never worth it for me, especially when they are pricey like at WDW. I don't like to draw attention to it so I just keep quiet and tell myself that I am paying for the "experience".

Usually when we eat out I order an appetizer, or share with my hubby.

Out of curiousity I could ask my surgeons office, I think there is a card they give you so get like the kids price since you most likely eat a lot less than the average kid under 10.

Does anyone have experience with this?

1) Never heard of such a card.
2) They have no way of auditing everyone to see how much you really ate.

It never hurts to ask. I know someone who never eats buffets (germ-o-phobe AND constant dieter.) BUT her kids love the biuffet character meals. She just asks her server if it is possible to sit with the kids and not eat. In many years of multiple trips per year she has only paid the entertainment fee twice and once they asked her to pay the full meal fee. She smiles and does as she is asked.
She does not ask for coffee or anything so that there is no confusion about her intentions (and no, she never sneaks a bite.) She had been given coffee before but never expects it.
She does leave a little extra in the tip to thank the server for their understanding.

So, Ask, but don't count on it...anything is possible.

The "card" exists, I checked it out, but it's more like a doctors note or prescription.

Again, it's not something I would use because I don't like to attract attention but it's something I have wondered about over the years because I had heard about it before. Apparently you can also get one if you have severe food allergies or other medical conditions so the chef's can prepare your food properly.

And I do agree about not being able to audit what you eat, it's not realistic. I think it's more for ordering ala-carte, not buffet. I have also heard of restaurants that will not allow post op adults to order from the kids menu.

Buffets are are based on averages - some eat less, some eat more. Should you get a price break because you opted for elective surgery (and that is what it is), while there are people in there that are dieting the old fashioned way, and not eating much, and they shouldn't get a price break? You make choices - period.

Wow, I guess this is the wrong forum for this discussion, if it were a weight loss site perhaps there would be more understanding as to why I asked this question.

I understand what you are saying about choices but because this is a very sensitive subject for me I should end this before I get upset and defensive. I just want to say...My only choice was have sugery or die. And I have dieted "the old-fashioned way" every day for the last 25 years so I know all about "dieting".

And it's not just about WLS patients, its about anyone with "medical" food issues.

Not all restaurants accept this card but for anyone who would like more info. on it, or to print it, this is the link for the card. And your doctor will absolutely provide you with a more official document if necessary.

This was unneccesarily harsh, I'd like to think you didn't mean it the way it came across. But the tone was rude, dismissive of another poster's question, and sounded judgemental of a choice she made that you have no knowledge of the circumstances.

To dislovinfamilyfromCT, while I'm pretty sure Disney would charge the adult price at a buffet or family style, the card may be a good idea for regular restaurants if you want to order from the child's menu.

Oh God thank you so much for understanding. I was just trying to help others and I know I shouldn't let folks who post get to me because we all have the freedom to speak our minds, sometimes at the expense of others feelings. That one went right to my heart. Thank you.

The more I think about it the more settled I am but I just have one more thing to say...I had my surgery 3 years ago and I have lost 85lbs. I was heavy all of my life but always carried myself with grace and confidence. People couldn't believe that I made this "choice" because I didn't look "fat". I even had the same attitude about weight loss surgery - it was the easy way out - not so. I have lost huge amounts of weight both before and after my surgery and I am darn proud of anyone who loses weight whether it be with or without surgery. Some folks will never understand....:hippie:

I think most of the Disney restaurants will charge you the child price, but I don't think you can purchase the dining plan at the child price.

Logically a buffet shouldn't be offering a discount to a customer that eats very little unless they charge more to customers that make multiple trips to the buffet table. Buffet pricing at Disney is more for the dining experience (Boma) and for characater interaction (other buffets) more then just the food that's offered. Many people who are watching their weight "don't get their monies worth".

Golly jeepers....I just wanted to know if I had to eat with my dd at her princess breakfast. How did my op go so awry???

Can't we just be a little more tolerant of others, people? Who cares if the woman has a card to be able to eat off the kids menu or pay less for her meal. It doesn't affect anyone else, let her have her card for Gods sake.

Now back to Norway please:)

I agree. Lets keep this on the topic that you as the original poster actually had questions about.

The other discussion needs to happen on another thread if people want to keep talking about it.

snarkiness did take a turn.

WHat I am thinking the poster meant was if you eat a little because you choose to or have to, no difference. An adult is an adult (that's my interpretation of the post).

Regarding Norway, if you just want her to have the interaction with the characters, there are character areas to do that. The restaurants are for people to have a meal and interact with the characters. If you do not care for the menu, dine somewhere where the menu does appeal. There are other people who would love to have your table and do not feel they will waste a credit dining there.

I know I am not a fan of the fare in Norway so it is not on my list of places to dine. If I want princessesprincess: , i would go to GF and 1900 PF where I do like the menu.
