Do they allow this??

Just to clarify...
I have no problem with the food in Norway for the princess breakfast. My only reason for the initial question is that there are sooo many awesome places to eat in Disney and I am trying to make the most of our ts meals. I just thought that maybe she could see the princesses and eat breakfast there and we wouldn't have to lose three other ts meals on me, dh, and ds. At three, I hardly think she will notice that wer're not eatinig too. We'd be into helping her have a magical experience. So, that being said, I think i will just go with her myself and let dh and ds so have a "manly breakfast" somewhere else, or at our cabin (we are staying in fw). that way, we can still enjoy another "general" character breakfast as a family at Chef Mickey's or Ohana's or something. I don't want to overdo the princess thing and I don't want to use a lot of our ts meals on breakfast. I know I can pay oop, but this trip is an expensive one this time and I think i spent enough already on our resort, tickets, and dining, not to mention the golf cart at fw.. She really is just a beginner with the disney stuff anyway. Kwim? that's why i decided to hold off on crt until next visit when she is a little older and more apprecaitive and aware of the atmosphere.

I had weight loss surgery 2 years ago and buffets are never worth it for me, especially when they are pricey like at WDW. I don't like to draw attention to it so I just keep quiet and tell myself that I am paying for the "experience".

Usually when we eat out I order an appetizer, or share with my hubby.

Out of curiousity I could ask my surgeons office, I think there is a card they give you so get like the kids price since you most likely eat a lot less than the average kid under 10.

Does anyone have experience with this?

I have read on the Dis repeatedly that YES you can get the kid's price with the card stating you had gastric surgery.

Again, it's not something I would use because I don't like to attract attention but it's something I have wondered about over the years because I had heard about it before

Why wouldn't you?

Sorry to reply in here, but I've seen repeatedly that it can be done (though like someone said, I don't think it works if you're on the DDP so one needing such a card might think long and hard about whether the DDP is worth it for their family), and I didn't want the only response to the person to be "no", when I've seen "yes" so very often.

OP I hope you can find out the exact answer to your question!

The food at WDW character buffets is only fair at best. These meals are not about the food -- they are about the experience of being with the WDW characters. Adults who have the pleasure of watching their children interact with the characters ought to expect to pay the price for the entertainment.

I recall taking our family to the Princess Dinner at Ariel's Grotto at California Adventure so my niece could enjoy the princesses -- and we could enjoy her enjoyment of the princesses. My father looked at the menu and was appalled that a hamburger cost $25. I told him, "Relax, Dad, the hamburger costs $5 and the show costs $20."

Or, as Master Card would describe it:

Airfare to Orlando $2,000
Vacation Package $3,000
Princess Meal for the family $200
Watching your daughter talk to Cinderella: Priceless!

I can say first hand from experience they won't let you sit, and will charge you. I know only because we went last year with GRANDPARENTS...who were VERY opposed to PAYING for ANYTHING. They are super cheapo and I mean that in the very nicest of ways because I love them dearly.:lmao:

BUT I digress. We got into the princess buffet, and grams decides she doesnt like anything on the menu, and isnt going to pay. Well the very nice norwegian waiter, nicely but firmly stated, "This is a buffet and it's 25$ (or some such number) a seat, and I will bring you out a plate of samples, if you are not ordering." (because grams refused to order!!! Im not kidding!!) :rotfl:

SO anyways - they very nicely brought out food and grams very sternly pushed the plate away!! :scared1: BUT we were charged anyways - which I fully expected to pay - because I had invited them out to this lunch and TOLD THEM I was going to pay...but they still couldnt stomach ME having to pay GASP.. 25$+ dollars for a meal. Can I just tell you that grams...truely SMASHED all remnants of pixie dust out of the lunch for me...we are NOT going with them again.;)

The more I think about it the more settled I am but I just have one more thing to say...I had my surgery 3 years ago and I have lost 85lbs. I was heavy all of my life but always carried myself with grace and confidence. People couldn't believe that I made this "choice" because I didn't look "fat". I even had the same attitude about weight loss surgery - it was the easy way out - not so. I have lost huge amounts of weight both before and after my surgery and I am darn proud of anyone who loses weight whether it be with or without surgery. Some folks will never understand....:hippie:

Way to go.....looks like you're doing just fine. Keep up the great work and terrific attitude. You should be proud.

Golly jeepers....I just wanted to know if I had to eat with my dd at her princess breakfast. How did my op go so awry???

Can't we just be a little more tolerant of others, people? Who cares if the woman has a card to be able to eat off the kids menu or pay less for her meal. It doesn't affect anyone else, let her have her card for Gods sake.

Now back to Norway please:)
Most people try to be tolerant. But, there are always those that are trying to pay as little as they possibly can and still have the 'experience'. I am NOT saying this is the case here. I don't beleive it is. But, believe it or not, there are people out there who try to 'work the system'. It would be nice if there could be allowances for those who don't eat nearly as much as others. Man, Disney loses money on my dh, but makes a ton of money on my 14 y/o dd!!! I guess it averages out.
For the most part, you are going to find that Disney feels that since part of that 'dining charge' is for entertainment everyone needs to pay. I'm not sure how they could make it work and have some pay a smaller amount and not eat. I know there would be some out there who would take advantage. Sad but true. You may just have to bite the bullet (excuse the pun) and pay for the meal. But, at least you get the joy of watching your dd with those princesses. My dd loved it there..hated the food, but loved the princesses. And that was on her 13th birthday no less!!!
Best of luck to you when you go...hope it all works out for you.

That was funny. Thanks for a good laugh. :rotfl: :lmao:

Buffets are are based on averages - some eat less, some eat more. Should you get a price break because you opted for elective surgery (and that is what it is), while there are people in there that are dieting the old fashioned way, and not eating much, and they shouldn't get a price break? You make choices - period.
Jeepers. Got some "issues" with the surgery? Nevermind, don't want to know.
__________
I tried to get out of paying for a meal I wasn't eating at LTT once - nothing doing. You pay the full price whether you eat no meal, half a meal, a full one, or two or three. God forbid Disney allow someone to take up a seat without paying for it. :scared1:

If this has changed, I'm going to finagle me one of those little cards. It would be awesome to pay less for eating less! :)

the OP has received an answer to her question. The thread has gone way off topic and will be closed.
