Do the waterparks close during rain?

At BB they have a weather station up on the mountain where they moniter via computer and watching the sky etc when weather might be an issue.

And to the poster who was upset about TL being closed on the days they were there in June, Blizzard Beach did not close. They remained open till regular closing time, so you could have used your WP option there.

This month there has been closings due to capacity for parts of the day a few times at BB . So advise go early or wait till late afternoon.

I can understand the poster who was upset about TL being closed those three days. especially if it was not an announced closing. Evidently it was not due to weather, because Blizzard Beach was open. Maybe it was a case that the poster had been to BB several times and wanted to try Typhoon Lagoon and she would not have added the WP option if it had been known ahead of time that TL was not going to be open.

That is correct Blizzard Beach was open those days so obviosly Typhoon Lagoon should have been open the third week of June. We were told it was closed due to the heavy rain. We really wanted to do the shark reef and the wave pool that is why we were upset, since Blizzard Beach has no shark reef and there is no comparison in the wave pools. So yes it does close for heavy rain for three days in the middle of summer crowds. It does not just close for lightening storms.

Yes,I was told by TL lifeguard during my recent trip that if the rain is so heavy that the lifeguards can't see the bottom of the wave pool, they will close it even with no lightning in the area.:)

This is a little different than the information provided by some else who works for Disney and someone who is reagrded as on of the esperts on this board.
Does anyone have the "official" answer or is there anything in writing?
I would think that the safet of the guests is the bottom line, but since I know the pools often re-open after lightning, it seems odd to me that TL was closed for three straight days because the lifeguards could not see the bottom of the pool because of heavy rains. maybe it was something else.
Still, I think the poster had a righty to be upset if there was no explanation.

I had no idea you could rent just umbrellas? Cost: $53.25

I know that sounds steep, but it's not just the umbrella you are paying for. Those are premium spaces in a roped off area you need wristband access to, along with the Beachcomber Shacks (premium cabanas). While the premium spaces don't afford you the same luxury as the cabanas, (For the tune of $350 after tax in the low season), you do get a slightly more secure area and are guaranteed 2 chairs that no one else can steal. On a super crowded day where chair space is at a minimum, this isn't a bad deal.

You also get a handy dandy little table for your drinks and food. No food runners though, those are only for the cabanas.

Typhoon lagoon did close due to heavy rain on June 17, 18, and 19 of this year. They closed the park for 3 days and it was not lightening all day all three of them days. Of course we added the waterpark option to our tickets on June 16 talk about a waste of money we were not happy.

Ahhh, but see, it's not just a water park option. It's water park AND MORE. You could have done the, AND MORE. :lmao: It's all in how you look at it. ;)

You are correct. It is a WATER PARKS AND MORE option. They should have been able to do the WATER PARK of their choice, since it was not announced that TL was going to be closed, AND MORE. It is not Water Park OR more.
