Do the Inconsistencies Bother You?

I find it very frustrating that the information you receive when you call Disney is very inconsistent. Some people are reporting a room discount WITH free dining. Others, like myself, are told that there is no room discount with free dining.

Some people report that they were able to start their trip on the last day of free dining and have FD extend throughout the trip. Other people report that the CM's tell them that is impossible because the offer ends on a certain date.

This annoys me because I don't think there should be any inconsistencies in these matters. Isn't someone in charge over there? :confused3 It feels like a lottery when you dial the Disney number. Am I going to be lucky today and get a CM who is accurately informed?

I just needed to vent because this is making me a bit :crazy2:

Does it bother anyone else?

Thanks for listening.

Uh . .YEAH! Of course it bothers me. It's a crap shoot. Sometimes I wonder if it's better to get the uninformed CM because you get a better deal. The same old saying holds true, if you don't get what you want, keep calling back until you do.

It is unfortunate, sometimes I wonder if some of them just arn't interested in helping you out (although that is their job.)

Yesterday I called to ask about the Disney Visa code. The man I spoke with was very sort with me telling me I already ahd a good deal this was not going to be any better and it wasn't worth checking. Annoyed, I hung up, but I thought, how is taht possible? I saved $1000 ($500 per room) with the previous code but paid nearly $1900 for two rooms worth of dining. So, I called back and the NICEST GUY answered and said no problem. I wound up giving up the previous discount and saving the $1900. PLUS, we check in on the last day of the deal (November 22). It took just minutes and the guy was so great, I ws crying I was so happy. So, while it may be annoying, if you don't get the answer you think you should get, call back. There are pleanty of otehrs who will help you out. I wish you could call and say can I please talk to ******, that would be nice. I am working on a letter to send to Disney about the guy I spoke with (King), as she should get a gold star for his wonderful service, working with him truly was "magical".

Good Luck... Keep Trying!!

Thanks for your thoughts. Yes, I know, I should try again and I probably will.

May I ask you a question regarding your new reservation because I"m not sure I understand your total savings. If you gave up your previous code and took the Free Dining, did you lose the room discount, which would reduce your total savings? Just curious.

Thanks.

I agree and I also find it very frustrating that I know more. I called about 2 weeks ago for rates at the Contemporary in the summer during value season. I was not sure of the exact date value season started but I know deluxe resorts start value season at the end of July sometime. He told me there is no value season in the summer.:confused3 I said, "What about August?" He said, "Oh, August 2 is the start of value season." That was still wrong!!!:confused3 :confused3 I have no idea but I agree that is it very frustrating.

When I call I expect the person at the other end to be clueless so I am prepared with codes or any other information I will need.

I am calling to spend thousand of dollars I should expect expert knowledge and a pleasant voice but I know that it usually is not going to happen.

What I got yesterday was a guy who took forever and kept putting me on hold and finally said I could get free dining by checking on the last day of the offer but there is no room discount.

I am prepared to hang up at anytime and get another CM who I hope can help me.

There are some really well informed pleasant CM and then there are the grouchy ones that are not going to help you at all.

It's getting terrible! I used to get such good service from CRO. And the guy I had yesterday was so PUSHY. First he said I didn't qualify for the VISA discount b/c of my dates. And he was kind of rude about it. Then he put me on hold for a looong time. Then he came back with an offer that I decided to decline (it was slightly different than our original plan) and he was kind of rude to me again. Got very pushy about it buying this package and told me he felt sorry for me if I didn't book it.

He seemed kind of clueless about everything.

I agree it's very frustrating! But it's not just Disney. I would wager at least 99% of companies have this kind of inconsistency when it comes to their Customer serive.

I totally agree. If I wanted to get myself all frustration again I would tell you about the CS at a certain computer company when I had to deal with them with a broken laptop still under warranty.

You only get to use one discount.

Reservation A:
3 Adults (me, hubby and will be 14 year old DD) & 1 Junior(9 year old DD) in one room

Reservation B: 2 Adults (my grandparents) & 1 Child (6 year old DD)

Both reservations for 8 nights with dining and 5 day non hoppersa at ASSp

Original Booking in February---
A- $2813.94
B- $2279.89

Adjusted with GP code in August---
A- $2316.74
B- $1782.69

Adjusted with Disney Visa code in September---
A- $1803.06
B- $1572.93

So no, we don't get a room discount, but it worked better for us because we already were doing dining. If you don't plan on eating much at Disney maybe the room only discount would be better (I am not sure what that code was as we always had the diing option on our reservation). For us, we like the dining plan so it was always on there. I hope this helps you and hope you get what you are hoping for.

BTW, I made a mistake on the savings. I guess it is around $1700 not $1900, still good, but a good reminder that my brain doesn't function well on little sleep.

Yes, you lose the room discount with the free dining code, but if you have a large family reservation like MickeyMomofThree and I do (we have 4 kids and we are taking my MIL also) it will save you MUCH more money than the room discount.

Our original reservation was:

8 nights with 2 rooms at All-Star Movies with 8 day hoppers was about $4,800.00.

With the free dining code applied to our exisiting reservations our total is now about $3,200.00.

We saved about $1,600.00 with the free dining code!!!! We would have only save $637.00 if I would have kept the fall room discount code that came out last month.

Of course, Free Dining is the better deal when you have so many people. However, this goes back to my original question regarding those folks who are reporting a room discount and free dining. Wouldn't you like that deal, too? And, if that is possible, why aren't you (and I) getting it?

This is what bothers me.

I don't know how they are getting both codes. I called to be sure but didn't expect it--- that was really hard to believe. I am happy with the deal I got, however if you find out how to get both pass it on please...

I spoke with King yesterday also - he was awesome!

Tell me, how great would it be if Disney had 1000 "King"s working for them... people would hang up so pleased. I was so impressed with him I wrote a letter. I need to finish it and send it off tonight. He was great. I cannot say it enough... if only we could call and ask for him. Anyway, glad we both lucked out and got him!

Hi - I have been reading all over the threads about a CODE  of some sort that people are getting from various places. Would someone be kind enough to explain where they come from and how they come about? I am a Disney Visa holder and we go every year and stay on property and I have never gotten any sort of perk to save money. I really feel like I have missed the boat! I am sure like everyone else trying to get there anything I can do to save money is worth my effort. Many thanks! :)

It does seem that the greater discounts that some are getting is from people that already were paying for the dining anywat like yourself. Great deal. We had room only AP at ASMu for 54/night and gave it up to get the free dining for what ended up costing only about 194 for the 2 of us for 6 days plus we get to keep the one day passes we had to purchase. When my daughter heard this she decided to come as well for an additional 146, her 1 day and 6 days free dining!! WDW must really have many many rooms not booked in order to have all these offers for very inexpensive stays in proportion to what other trips cost.

I think with the new FD deal, it depends on when you are traveling (and possibly where you are staying) as to whether or not you are getting a room discount in addition to the FD. We are going 10/4 - 10/12 to CSR. We initially had a 40% room discount with a PIN code (which was the same as the Fall pkg discount...at least for our dates). We gave up the 40% discount on the room to get the FD pkg, but with that pkg we also received almost a 10% discount on our room as well. In our case, we are paying the value season rate even though our dates are in regular season. So we are NOT getting to use both codes...we only have the FD code QXZ. It just happens for our dates/resort that we are getting a discounted room with the FD pkg. Now how the system is determining what rooms/dates get the additional room discount....who knows! Just wanted to clarify that I don't think anyone is getting to "stack" the discount codes.

Yes, I totally agree with your statement. I haven't seen anyone post that they got free dining and 40% off of their room.
