Halloween? I know right now they are $5 off. But do they ever go 25% or more? My DD really wants the Jasmine costume. But I can't bring my self to pay that much for a costume! Any ideas?
I'm thinking they went on sale the week before to 25%, Online had 20% off costumes, Maybe they still do. Our DS usually sells out so fast you've got to get them when they first come out.
Can't help you with Jasmine but I just bought the Goliath (from Jo Jo's Circus) for $16.99!!!! Everything else was full price (the $5 sale was over.) I had to exchange DS#1 Mickey costume for a larger size and they had to override the price to give the $5 off.
Yes but not always, I've bought them at up to 75% off and if I remember right they've been marked at least 25% before Halloween. Certain ones that arent' as popular might even go 50% but hard to tell.
The Lizzie Maguire costumes and accessories were in the clearance section of my DS today. No sales on the other costumes. Some of the Nightmare Before Christmas items were 25% off and the large Halloween plush were on sale for $12.99.
I have had very good luck buying Disney Store costumes on E-bay. Often the costumes are brand new with tags on, and if they have been worn it is just once. Two years ago I bought a piglet costume and this year an Eeyore costume. I saved more than 1/2 the price. I would look NOW or wait until after Halloween. The closer to October, the higher the prices.
I caved and bought DD(6yrs old) the Jasmine costume. I usually would never buy anything full price - let alone a costume for $35 . But my DDs wear their princess dresses everyday, they play in them all the time. So it really would be getting lots of use....not even just for Halloween.
DD had a princess birthday party last night and all the girls(9 in all) were dressed as princesses. It was beautiful!
BTW, the Jasmine costume seemed to run a bit big. The 6/6X drowned my little DD.
Oh, and up until this past summer, in July the DS would have to most awesome costume clearance sale. In years past I have gotten beautiful Cinderella gown, an Ariel sequin mermaid dress, shoes and accessories for 50 -75% off. Didn't happen this year.
I had good luck getting the Jasmine costume from Disney Store on line. Mousesavers posted earlier in the week that they had an unadvertised special: if you bought certain princess costumes and at least 2 of the accesories, everything was 20% off. If you used the SPOOKY20 code you got another 20% off - total of 40%! I ended up getting Jasmine for one DD for $20.40 and Snow White for my other DD for $23.70! Sorry to say, but I think the code was only good through 9/15.
I did call the DS a few times in the past weeks and only certain princess costumes were on sale. The CM indicated that Jasmine and Pocohatas would not be going on sale because they are newer princess costumes.
I am sorry I missed the on-line sale. But I did need the costume by last night.
Thanks everyone
I stopped in the store today and she told me to call back or stop back either Wed or Friday. She wouldn't say they would go on sale or not but said that is when the sales usually start.
I am not looking at the really pretty one that is $89 I want the $34 I should have bought it when they had the $5 off....But I had know idea DD would want it.
I know I am going to break down and just buy it. She still believes jasmine is real! (we have a special Jasmine at MGM so DD has rec'd the royal treatment when we visit) So I think Iwill stop in on Wed and just get it!
Two years ago they were 40-50% off right before Halloween. Last year I waited and waited and the most they were ever discounted was 25%. Even after Halloween nothing was very cheap! I think it's pretty ridiculous. And now that my child is in kindergarten instead of preschool, she can only wear her costume "officially" one time-Trick or treating! They don't celebrate Halloween at her school-which I also think is ridiculous. At my Mom's school they call it "Fall Festival" and let the kids dress up. What's wrong with pretending to be someone else for a few hours?!
I worked at TDS last Halloween, and I remember Jasmine and Pocohontas were the most popular and sold out a couple weeks before Halloween. Usually all that is left is alot of the same size in Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty, but they don't go on sale more than 25% until a couple days before...
Look at it as a long term playoutfit
Certain costumes will sell out faster than others. Belle and Minnie may sell out early this year, I would also go along with Pocahontas and Jasmine. Oct 5th, Alladin comes out on DVD and re-release on VHS. At that point, Jasmine will fly out of the stores, as kids watch that movie, some of them for the first time.
