We will be visiting Portofino Bay Resort in November. My wife has bad knees and will require a scooter.
Would like to know if anyone can tell me if scooters are permitted on the Boat from Portofino to the Parks.

Yes they are. You will be loaded and unloaded first. At least that is the way I've always seen it done. They have a ramp the captain will attach when boarding and exiting.

Yes but there is a limit to the number allowed, because of the space for ECVs. (I think 2 are allowed)

If she has a good battery on the ECV and you like to walk, you could both take the path if you wished.

Yes scooters are allowed. I had both my knees replaced and I used a scooter last year the company I used brought the scooter to the resort lobby. You are able to plug it in outside your room. I actually rode the scooter along the path from the Portfino to the park. It was a great ride in the morning. It was very reasonable. It was through Walker mobility. www.walkermobility.com 1-888-726-6837. I was able to pick the color. They were very nice to deal with. This option helped me not cancel my vacation I had planned. You can get on the water taxi with your scooter, but I think there is honestly only room for one at a time.

Yes, but you may decide the pathway is preferable. Either way, getting to the parks is very convenient. It is just the boat is not often a timesaver, and the pathway is enjoyable. We only took the boat if the timing was perfect.

It is also worth mentioning this time of year that shuttle boats don't run during thunderstorms. (both US and WDW)

Good point. And that means storms with lightning in a certain radius around the parks, not *all* storms. And you can't wait in line if the boats aren't going, because the structures are metal. So take shelter elsewhere.

My dad has gone with us twice now to PBH and we rented him a scooter both times. He LOVED it, it as easy to get on/off the boats to and from the park and we never had an issue with too many scooters trying to get on. I never say more than 2 on, but then again I never saw more than 2 people with them waiting for a boat and we go in June/July usually. We also use Walker and they are wonderful to work with and we have not had a problem with their scooters.

Yes we saw 2 people use the water taxi`s with ECV`s at the same time.
