My dh and two ds's cleaned our Excursion last night. And this morning when I took the kids to school the smell about knocked me out!! :faint: No......it wasn't a "foul" smell. All day long I have been trying to figure out what it was?!!!

It smelled like a huge bottle of cologne was dumped in the truck or they used a whole can of strong smelling shaving cream!!! :crazy2: Mind you, my Excursion is only 4 mos. old and STILL had that "new car" smell in it!! I have had to drive around ALL day with all the windows down and I still have a headache:headache: Thank goodness the weather is great today!! Tried spraying Febreeze and Oust in it, but no luck!! So, after picking up oldest ds at school and asking him, "WHAT DID YOU PUT IN MY TRUCK?????"

He says: Those Sponge Bob Square Pants Air Fresheners, Why??

They smell like cologne, but he didn't just put one in there.....NOOOOO...he put THREE (hid them actually)!!!! I asked him and his dad if their noses were broken or something and to please tell me WHY they thought the smell wasn't strong???? You could get HIGH in my truck with the windows rolled up!!

:crazy2: Why oh why?? Got to try to air it out or something, can't stand those strong smells!!!!!!! Sorry if this a long post! Thanks for letting me vent!!!

Oh yeah! It has to be subtle or I get a headache.

I have a very bad problem with that! Perfumes, scented candles, air freshners... they all get me. If it's bad enough it sets me up for a sinus infection. :( The dr gave me some Nasacourt AQ to help out. Hope you find the source fo the smell.

Yes, those things, strong perfumes on people, cigarettes, all make me nauseous.

I had the misfortune of getting my mothers stong nose. I also have a sensitive stomach to such smells, and was terribly embarresed when I hoped in a rental car a few years back and was immediatly back out again, having gotten sick because of the smell of the car cleaner. I now send someone else in first to make sure the smell isn't unbearable, though I have gotten a little more tolerable of such smells, as I have had to with the many trips I have taken.

We've had big problems with a co worker who doused herself with a strong smelling rose perfume. OMG it was enough to turn your stomach, especially at 7:00am.! Management had to distribute a memo asking employees to be considerate, and to refrain from wearing strong perfume/cologne.
If you can believe it we also have an employee who stinks up the entire building by reheating leftover fish in the micro. We've actually had people go home sick over this one.

DH bought a bottle of Drakkar Noir cologne and that stuff makes me nauseous!! Never had a cologne do that before. He has a couple different kinds from Eddie Bauer and I LOVE those, but not Drakkar....blech....:crazy2:

I don't like going in to shops that sell scented candles or pot pourri - all the different smells make me feel icky!

I have the *smell* problem too. In fact, if I'm around something that is really strong, I almost feel like I'm gonna have a panic attack!!

I don't mind candles and stuff like that but perfumes and air fresheners are tough on me. One day I was at the Hallmark store and I saw those Yankee Candle Car Fresheners. I like Yankee Candles so I thought these would smell nice in the car. I even got the "Clean Cotton" fragrance thinking it would be mild. I mean, let's face it, true clean cotton doesn't smell mcuh. I put the thing in the car and drove off. Within 5 minutes Ifelt like I was going to jump out of my skin. I pulled over on the shoulder of the road, stopped, and threw the thing in the back of my trunk.

I can't stand walking by the Yankee Candle store at the mall. The smell coming out of there is so strong. YUCK! :crazy2:

I hate smelling other peoples' perfume and cologne. IMHO, it should be worn so that only people trying to smell you, can smell it, and not when you walk down the hallway leaving a trail of stench behind you. YUCK-O!!

URGH! I'd probably puke if there was 3 car air freshners in my car.

Smells that make me gag:

Cigarette smoke
Sweet smelling candles
Electrical smoke (this one makes me gag just thinking of it)
Butterscotch

Yep...and just today I had an awful experience. Went downtown...didn't have time to look for a parking spot on the street so I parkend in the parking garage. Elevator was broken so had to take the stairs....had to hold my breath in order not to puke! Ick

I tried those once too! BIG mistake! I do like the vanilla scented candles, but the air freshener vanilla was Nasty!!

Anybody know anything else to try to get that smell out of my Excursion? Febreeze and Oust odor eliminating spray is NOT working!!

Just keep the windows open and let it air out if you can.

I would keep them open, but the worms:crazy2: are starting to drop from the house and trees! You know it is spring around here when those nasty little worms start crawling around everywhere! They are almost as bad as the mosquitos!!

Anything strong gives me a migraine in a minute. I'm VERY sensitive to scents.

Try a fresh bag of charcoal. Just open it up,(being careful not to spill it of course, that could be a real mess.) and put it in the back of your car (well supported) and leave it overnight or a day or two. The charcoal will absorb the odors.
