Do spots for dessert parties ever open up close to trip?

It has been an insane year and I totally spaced on getting dessert party tickets, now there are no tickets available our whole trip. We're looking to do the Seats & Sweets one. It's just my husband and I and won't be a huge deal if we can't go, we just really like that one. Our trip is next month and I'm just wondering if I should bother to keep checking -- Do spots ever become available closer to the event nights?

They may open. I would keep checking although I’m guessing if more are going to open it would be closer to/day of.

If I am reading it correctly, This link to the Disney website shows they can be cancelled without penalty up to 24 hours in advance.

I can say that many spots opened up for the 12/30 pre and post parties. I booked mine Saturday for todays party. I set up an alert for it. I got several notifications but none for the seated party ( we wanted post so it was fine)

I booked a party 20 minutes before it started on my last trip. That was one confused set of CMs that had to radio their coordinator.
