Do some people just NOT know that their park ticket can get fastpasses??

I'm always amazed at how some people do not prepare for a Disney vacation! I personally think that reading about it and talking about it with others is half the fun! But I agree with you all that it helps us out when other people don't have good strategies for managing the parks :lmao:. And btw, I am shocked that other parks charge for fast passes. This is why I only go to Disney parks :yay:

The first time we went I had found the DIS and spent hours upon hours researching. I understood FP. Dh was not interested in anything I had learned. He was a "just tell me where to go and what to do" guy. So at one point we went to the FP machines in MK and I took our tickets and fed them into the machine got them for Thunder Mountain. Then I said "Time for lunch!". Yeah, I tried to explain to him that we were coming back later and he just looked at me like I was crazy. I finally said, look at that wait time-- I am NOT waiting that long. The line should be shorter later.;)

After lunch at Pecos Bills I headed to Splash Mountain and got our FP there. Again, "line is too long, we will come back later". Back to TM and headed with DH to the FP line. He kept protesting that the line was over there and this was the wrong place. I took him by the hand, showed the FP to the CM and off we went into the empty FP line. DH just kept saying "this is crazy" "we can't be over here" "we can't be cutting" "this will never work". Got to the front, handed over the FP and we were put directly in the line up for the cars (whatever they call that). DH was speechless. Then he was :woohoo::cheer2::woohoo: . After the ride we headed to SM (we got some really great return times that visit) and as we went into the FP line he kept looking at the people in line and whispering to me under his breath "Suckers" "Guess they didn't do any research", "Can't believe they are standing in line when they don't have to" :lmao:

Some people just don't get it until they have tried it, and refuse to believe it enough to even give it a shot! Of course the worst part after that was trying to explain to DH that not EVERY ride had FP and we would have to stand in a few lines!

Fine with me. Saves more FastPasses for the rest of us! :thumbsup2

I read in a guide book last year that Disney estimates only 50 percent of parkgoers actually make use of fastpass! Can you imagine the return times for Test Track if everybody used FP though!?

Also, I do think most people think that FP is something they have to add-on to their tickets for an additional fee. In fact, Disney Parks are the only theme parks that I know of that do NOT charge for FP. Almost makes $75 per day not sound so bad! (almost).

I feel so let down.

I took full advantage of Fast Pass during our recent trip (as I have during my previous 2 trips in the more than 10 years since FP machines were introduced)
and at no time during my walk through a fast pass line has anyone ever commented that I was somehow cutting in line or given me a dirty look for jumping ahead of them.

I did however get some big smiles and a thank you when I offered a woman and her two kids at the end of the Buzz Lightyear standby line my extra FPs.

I love it - what an awesome story!:lmao:

Wow I didn't realize this many people did not get the idea of the FP! it is posted everywhere :/ very east concept.....hmmmm......oddballs lol:confused3 love all your comments:rotfl:

We were just there and as we were walking in the FP line heard a guy say to his family "We just can't afford those FP" ??????? I agree with the other posters that have said why spend so much on the trip not knowing about things like the FP????

I was chatting in line with a family while waiting for photos with Winnie the Pooh and Tigger. They didn't know about the Photopass. I told them about it and then I asked what rides they had been on and if they had gone on Winnie the Pooh. They hadn't. I told them how we (my niece and I) had a lot of Fastpasses as that's her favorite ride. They didn't know about Fastpasses and didn't have a clue as to how it worked. I took the mother over to the machine and showed her what you do after they had their photos taken. She couldn't belive she was able to get the fastpasses with her tickets.

On our first trip last year, we used fastpasses, of course - my dh claimed he felt guilty walking past all the people waiting in line - but it didn't stop him from doing it :)

My question is where in the heck did the people get the "price" for FP to know that they could not afford them?! :rotfl: That's just crazy!!

Every trip we use FPs, there is ALWAYS some family that gives us dirty looks as we pass them in the FP line. They usually mutter something along the lines of, "They let THEM cut in line- we didn't have enough money to spend on extras like FP"... We don't even try to explain anymore. If people aren't willing to even read the park map, for goodness sake, to figure out how to use FP, I'm not going to let them make me feel bad.

This happened to us. As we were walking through the FP line, a woman in the regular line said very loudly, "How come they get to go right in?!?", like we were cutting in line.

Someone near her explained we had FPs and were coming back to use them.

There were several things I didn't know about, when we went to WDW, but the FP system wasn't one of them.

I wouldn't know if people were giving me dirty looks. I'm not looking at them to find out. I'm busy doing my own thing.

Nobody has ever made a nasty comment to me, I don't think.

But if they did give me mean looks/comments, I just wouldn't care. Good for them, hope they're happier having blown off some steam, Hookairs. I'd go on with my ride/day/life and never, ever care.

I have a friend who always brags that he paid extra for the "Fast Pass Option" on his Disney Tickets. The first few times, I would tell him that all Disney Tickets can be used for a Fast Pass. Now, I just smile and say "uh huh!"popcorn::

The park maps sport a relatively large section of the page to the instructions on how to use FP. However nowhere does it mention that it's free.

On the other hand, every travel agent that sells Disney vacations/every website allowing you to book one has links to information on Disney. I find it so strange that people who pay as much as they do for a WDW vacation fail to do even the basic research. Things like parking, perks for staying on property, taxes, what is and is not included ......... Heck, I'm not a newbie to WDW but I STILL constantly read all the news (part of the mainenance process :rotfl:)

We have done that, too- whenever we have extra FPs we offer them to others so they can use them. People really are very appreciative!!

I'd like to know what exactly he really got, because of course it wasn't the "Fast Pass Option"! :confused3

This is another example of something I've always said: people just don't want to bother reading. It's really sad. There's a big beautiful world out there, and people just don't want to learn about it, if it means they'll have to read. :guilty:

:thumbsup2:lmao:

WDW certainly does a good job of leading people there, but if they refuse to use the information, you can't do anything.
I just read an article in the Sunday Minneapolis paper complaining about the cost of parking like it was a surprise (they were staying at one of the "Good Neighbor" WDW DTD hotels, not on site). That part I maybe get, but the writer parked at Epcot and later went to MK, where he complained about having to pay for parking AGAIN. Apparently, in his research, he didn't find that parts that said to save your parking receipt so you don't have to pay when entering a the 2nd parking lot on the same day.:confused3

Did you also notice that they said next time they might want to read a guidebook before they go? I just don't get people who travel to a specific destination without doing any research at all about what they are getting into. I would go nuts!
