Do Shuttles Run Outside the Resorts

We are planning to stay at one of the value resorts in May. We are flying in and taking the new Disney Express bus service from the a/p to the resort. Does any shuttle run from the resorts to places like Downtown Disney, etc? I imagine that once we are in the compound, we are in there until we leave. (unless we rent our own car, correct?)

Disney has free transportation for those staying onsite. There are busses that will take you to Downtown Disney, the parks, etc.

The buses will take you to parks and DTD. They do not run between resorts and they do not go off property to stores or restaurants.
