Do AAA or Sams Club offer onboard credit when booking DCL?

I know Amex doesn't do Disney Cruises at all, which is really disappointing as they used to offer the White Glove Disney Treatment!

We've only gone on two DCL cruises. Merrie Thomas with Dreams Unlimited Travel helped us with both cruises. We booked our own excursions, but she was great. Unknown to us, Disney dropped the price on a cruise after we booked it. She caught the change and added it to our account. The onboard credit for booking with Dreams was also very nice. :-)

If you can use Costco travel, they put 8% of the cruise fare onto a Costco card for booking with them. Another 2% back if you are an executive member. Another 3% back if you book using the Costco citi card. Booking thru Costco gets you lots of cash back.

Costco generally has the highest rebate of the mainstream travel agents but the 8% figure is based on dated information. The amount has noticeable decreased in recent years, and often the total package offered by other travel agencies (OBC and sometimes gifts) will be nearly as much as what Costco is offering.

Some independent travel agents offer even larger cash rebates but this is discouraged I believe.

This isn't true. The current rebate is 8.5% of the base cruise cost. And that is on top of any discount you might get from DCL, such as a placeholder discount, and in addition to any other advantages you can get booking via Costco, such as a separate 2% percent back via the executive membership benefit, and a separate 3% back if you book via Costco Visa.

Not sure where you are getting your info. Just booked a $3300 VGT rate on the fantasy leaving next month. Take out the taxes and fees and the base rate is $3000. Getting a $240 Costco shop card after the cruise. Using math, 8% of $3000 is $240.

Costco definitely lowered its rebates across the board — not uncommon to get higher rebates from other travel agents on most cruise lines.

Just playing around with DCL rates on their website now, and subtracting port taxes/fees, I don’t come up with 8.5%. Some close, some off.

You are mistaken.

Costco gives the 8.5% as a rebate after the cruise. You can't see it by playing around on websites.

I've booked DCL via Costco Travel several times, including multiple times in the past year, and I've always received 8.5% of the base cruise cost as a post-cruise Costco Shop Card.

Costco’s website lists the fare and port taxes and fees as separate line items during the check-out process. The amounts agree to those on DCL’s website. That same page on Costco also lists the Incentive. From reading DCL’s literature, the fare is indeed the commissionable portion . This, the incentive should be 8.5%… but when I was playing around, it wasn’t.

You say the rebate can’t be determined from playing around with the website (which just described), so how are you determining it? Cruises. Com is the largest cruise travel agency, operating a ton of store fronts like Priceline Cruises, etc. They love to advertise huge incentive packages but will not tell you the exact amount until AFTER you book… when you’ll discover they vastly inflate the taxes and fees, thus yielding a lower than expected incentive. A $7,500 cruose booked via DCL direct will list $900 in taxes and fees but cruises. Com will list it as $3,500. Guarantee you the 2,400 difference is commissionable but their legalise indicates it indicates “recovery fees”

Don’t be fooled.

I'm not going to keep arguing this with you. Costco Travel is not engaged in fraud. The 8.5% rebate that they advertise is what you actually get.

I’m not familiar with those websites but just be informed that DCL does not allow any travel agency/booking site to discount or rebate their cruises beyond what DCL offers themselves. The fares should always be the same - if not the agency/site isn’t on the up and up.

Any “incentives” offered such as OBC or gifts or cash card are directly from the agency. DCL’s commission structure doesn’t allow for most agencies to give huge amounts. And many independent or non-Disney-focused agencies receive very little commission. An agency providing more is cutting into their own profit.

Where do they advertise an 8.5% rebate? I don’t see it on their website and it’s definitely not in the current travel brochure. When I Google it, the results point to this fourm. Hmm…

Again, the numbers don’t reflect 8.5%. And per Google; that number has appeared in this forum since the 2000s. Costco Travel (in general) has cut their incentives over the years and no doubt DCL is the same.
