Do points need to be already banked in upcoming use year to book?

Planning an 8 night stay (310 points) in October 2006, at our home resort, SSR. Our use year is September. We currently have 105 points remaining in this use year and will recieve 200 on September 2006. Do we have to bank this years points, before we can make the reservation, or can we make the reservation now and bank the points later? Also, what about the extra 5 pts I need to complete the stay? Do I need to borrow those from my 2007 use year now, is that even possible? Hope this all isn't too confusing

You don't have to bank the points first but if October 2006 is your next trip, you would have to bank them before you make the reservation if you want to use those points. If you have another trip planned in this use year and want to hang onto the points for that trip, you can do that too. If you bank the points, make sure to tell the CM helping you at MS to use the banked points first.

The other 5 points would be borrowed from the 2007 use year when you make the reservation. Yes you can make it now and borrow them now (for a reservation in the 2006 use year).

If you want to use the 2005 points when you make this reservation, you have to bank them. If you don't want to bank the points when you make the reservation, you would only have 2006 points and borrowed 2007 points to work with. Your stay is in your 2006 use year, so there is no problem borrowing 2007.

Debbie is right - you HAVE to bank first. You have to have the points available at the time you make your ressie. Without banking, the only points you will have available are your '06 and '07 points.

If you don't bank first, MS will use your 200 2006 points and borrow 110 from 2007 when you make the ressie. That will leave you with 105 '05 points you can't use, and only 90 points coming at the start of your '07 use year.

I just booked our Oct 2006 trip last week. I made one call to MS, the CM banked my 2005 points, then used them and the 2006 points for my reservation. Very easy process.
