Do people tell you "You are going there, AGAIN?"

We don't have kids and I've always been (and now we both are) DLR fans. I usually repond to people, "Its our beach. You could go on a beach vacation at the drop of a hat? That's what we do with Disneyland." And they just sputter and stutter because there's no good rebuttal to that.

Unless I get the dreaded, "Disneyland? Disney WORLD I could understand." And then Ryan and I flatten them with how much we hated WDW and how much they have no idea about at DLR. And then we go watch Soundsational on YouTube...

We live in San Francisco and go pretty often. We were there last weekend and we will be back next weekend. I have one friend who says "Again?!" all the time on FB but since we paid so much for our Premier passes, we want to make sure we aren't wasting them.

We also still have a decent list of things we haven't done at the parks and like to check off at least one or two each trip. Last trip was doing RSR at night, since we've done it plenty of times in the morning. Next week we will be doing the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour and there is still plenty to see and do!

I get this sometimes. I try to explain that it's the perfect vacation for little kids (3 & 7 now) because I don't have to entertain them! We can all have fun together.

I love going on beach vacations (Hawaii, Mexico, etc...) or sightseeing vacations, but with kids it takes so much energy to keep them entertained I can't relax and it never really feels like a vacation.

When they are older though, I'll have to start answering with, "Whatever, I do what I want!"

ALL the time.

We just tell people that it's the EASIEST vacation for us to do with our young kids. Plus, it's only a 2.5 hour plane ride which makes it cheaper and close than other big holiday destinations

Bottom line? It makes us happy!

Ever try a Disney Cruise???

Not a Disney Cruise, but I've been on other cruises. A Disney cruise sounds nice, but it's so expensive and I'm more of a resort person than a boat person.

We have framed photos of our sons on the walls through out the living room, dining room, and offices in our home. Most of the pictures were taken at DL with the boys posing with Mickey, Donald, Peter Pan, Capt. Jack Sparrow, and other characters. Other photos of all of us by the photopass CMs from all over DL. It is amazing to watch house guests go from picture to picture smiling and commenting on how happy everyone appears. People go to the DL pictures like a moth to a flame, it is amazing. When at other peoples homes I have noticed people will glance at the pictures of the baseball & sports photos of children and family members and not give them a second glance. That is just one of the reasons we go to DL.

The question that baffles me is "Well arent your kids too young to go to Disney? Why would you go now?"

When we went for our first trip two years ago, my son was almost three and we got asked that constantly and now that we are going again and our youngest will only be 14 months, we are getting it again.


Cmon people!!!! Hmmmm...we want to go on a family vacation..... yes what a crazy idea.... take our kids to Disneyland?!!! What strange people we are!!! lol

Everyone keeps talking also about how they wont remember it..... Well first of all, we plan on going lots throughout their lives, second of all, my last trip with my parents I was 13 and my memories are super sparse of it then so why not take them now. Third, my DH and I are making amazing memories of our family right now...its not just for the kids!

Happy emotions and yes memories that are not just for the kids but the parents as well! I took my kids at 2 and 4. Do they remember? Probably not but it was the best vacation of my life with my own family and the pictures alone are worth every penny. Ok I will calm down

What about photos with Santa? Most parents I know do this for baby's first Christmas. Will the baby remember? No. Does the baby want to do it? No, in fact, most seem to be adamantly against it Do they have to line up and pay good money for it? Absolutely! Nonetheless, parents still do it, because THEY want the photo and the memory of their baby with Santa. And nobody questions them about that.

I put trips to Disneyland with babies in the same category. Just because they baby won't remember, it doesn't mean that the parents won't have wonderful photos and memories to cherish for years to come.

People have no problem going to Vegas multiple times but it's 'cool' because it's adult. People go to Mexico all the time and if you are just a resorty-type it's not like you are experiencing anything new.

We go to Dland once a year. It happens to coincide with my annual visit with my mom who lives in Orange Cty. So I just tell people I am making my annual visit to see family in SoCal - which I am, but of course we do all that visiting at Dland! My husband and I grew up in SoCal and went to Dland as kids in the 60's (he was going in the 50's), and it is just a deep part of our lives. Heck I have been going to Dland for 45 years. Even if our family weren't in the area, we would visit Dland at least once a year. Some of my friends and co-workers don't get it and that is fine. We all have our special interests.

In our case, people have moved beyond that question and now express surprise when we go someplace besides Disney.

We also hear this a lot. I've got younger hipsters at my work who think it's too corporate, hate crowds, and think its for kids. I generally hate crowds, too, but Disneyland is different. We hear, "Why are you going *there*?" Then someone else will say, "They *always* go there." As others have said, it's our place. We don't have kids. We just love being at Disneyland. While other cities and other experiences can be fun to do, for us, nothing is as relaxing.
