We've gotten this as well, several times. Evidently, our vacation destination was such a hot topic of conversation at the home of one of my siblings, that several years ago my (then) teenaged nephew, when messaging with me on MySpace about the fact that we'd be visiting him soon, said something like, "Oh. I guess you guys must be going to Disneyland again, right?"
I hate to admit it, but it really hurt my feelings. During all the years we lived out of state, none of my siblings ever came to visit us. Yet, we made sure that every time we were going on vacation, we made time to STOP and VISIT with them. We certainly didn't have to. It added extra days (and obviously, additional $$$) for us to do so.
And it's not like we're there all the time, either? We've headed down to DLR 6 times in the past 10 years. Just a few months ago my DH made a reference to my other sibling (not the parent of the nephew who made the remark) about vacation during summer....and my sibling says, "Don't tell me....Disneyland!"
I always wonder what makes people think they have the right to say anything at all about another person's travel choices??? Seriously, I would *never* have the audacity to interject my opinion on my siblings regarding where they chose to take their families when THEY have time and $$$ to travel. People are so weird.
And the people who say it to us spend their vacation time/money going places I personally, have little to no interest in going. They often took their own kids to adult-ish vacation venues (car shows in Reno?? Multiple long weekends per year in Vegas??).
I'm not sure why there are people who feel the need to *try* to make others feel weird about travel destination choices. I've just come to the conclusion that it's *their* issue - not mine.
