Do people really expect posters to qualify eveything?

Thinking of the many times people have replied to others because they didn't put it in something like IMO, SOME people, MOST people, etc. Shouldn't it be assumed that nobody really thinks it includes everything or everybody unless they actually say so?

Maybe I'm the only one this gets to, but it really bugs me to see people reply that people are "painting with a broad brush" because they leave out a some or IMO.

Some people just don't get everything. . .;)

cardaway,

Well, IMO, those people, well not all of them but most, don't want the wrath of some (not all people, IMO) to come down with the hatchet on them (but not everyone) because they forget to be PC, IMO, and forget to exclude some people, but not everyone, from their statement.

But that's all just IMO.

TIM, what exactly was your OPINION :confused3 ! Did you have an OPINION :confused3 ? Could you clarify your OPINION? :confused3

Ahhh....heck it is Friday night.... :lmao: :lmao:

I have been accused of generalizing before and it's annoying. It's like some people just look for things like that to drag out and pick a fight with. Usually when someone posts, I don't require them to qualify/quantify things. I have noticed that I've been trying to qualify things more in my posts just to keep the PITAs off my back.

What I find amazing (and not necessarily in a good way) is when someone will post something like...

"Last night I took my mom to the hospital and she ended up having to have open heart surgery. We were there all night and would have even eaten there if the hospital cafeteria had been open. The doctors weren't sure that she was going to make it but she seems to be doing fine now. With some bed rest, prayers and TLC she'll be up and around before long. PLease remember my mom and me in your prayers (as I'll be missing work to take care of her.)"

Someone else will then post...

"Why would you be surprised that the cafeteria was closed?!? Don't you think that cafeteria workers need some rest? They aren't supposed to work 24 hours a day, you know!"

I just want to scream..."DID YOU READ THE ENTIRE POST OR JUST THE SECOND SENTENCE? " It's as if some posters just read everone's posts to pick out any little word or phrase that will give them cause to jump on their self-righteous soapboxes.

I'm sorry if this sounds harsh. I always try to be nonconfrontational on this board, but I absolutely hate this. It's unfair to people to pick apart every syllable of one's post.

I will now return to my happy place :goodvibes

Lori--that's VERY funny. :teeth:

I don't like using "IMO" because obviously whatever I say is my opinion, why should I have to be redundant by saying "IMO". But I have been around enough message boards to know that sometimes, to keep the peace, you have to toss in the occasional "IMO".

Just to keep people from getting their proverbial undies in a bunch.
