I was wondering if the towel animals are kept by a majority of the people who get them. I would love to hear about this so I know how to approach this issue on the next trip. Thanks is advance beachfan :confused3

Absolutely not. The towels belong to the resort. When they leave them for you folded as animals, it's just a cute perk they do. They are not meant as gifts to be taken home.

No. I don't.

It'd feel wrong to take a towel just because it was shaped like an animal. I'd take a photograph instead.

Hope you have a great trip though- :flower3:

sore subject with me on this one.....I went last may with some friends and I was roomed with one of them. He decided that since he had paid to stay there those were there for him to keep...(keep in mind he didn't tip the entire time we were there)... I tried to explain to him that if everyone took those, 1. They would pass that cost on to the future visitors ( he didnt' care cause he didn't plan on going back) and 2. they would stop putting them in the rooms.(again he didnt' care adn took them anyways). I enjoy them..cause if you get a good mousekeeper they have fun with you..The first time I went every time I came back to the room they had moved it to a new location, it was really neat. We just took pictures of it and it enjoyed the photos when we got back home.......So keep these things in mind A photo will last a lot longer..and it helps keep the cost down...

When we were there in Oct. 09 we had towel animals in our room, I called and talked with mouse keeping and they told us that we could take them home with us,that is what they made them for.:confused3 so I guess you need to ask mouse keeping what they think.

Being totally honest, I took 1.. I thought it would be cool.. I took it 5 years ago and its still together! Now, I take pictures knowing that it was wrong and I should stop so visitors after me get to see these creative towels.

Um I was told to keep it...they said it was a gift. Granted it was in the shape of a Birthday Cake :) I didn't bring it home with me because I didn't know how to get it on the plane without smushing it.

Also when I was told to keep it I also found out that there is a storage room that has a whole bunch of these things pre-made with eyes and noses and stuff like that glued onto them. I don't think they take away from the hotels actual towel supply.

Our Mousekeeping maid "Margaret" told my son to take the little bunny towel animal back home with him so thats what he done. It sits by his bedside and he treasures it, otherwise we would not have brought it back. Let the flaming begin!!

You'll find the mousekeepers will tell you that you can take them home..

Dirty Little Secret: They're not made out of the same towels as the rest of the room.

SHHH.

Good to know!! Thanks Knox!

We were there in fall 2009 and our DD5 asked the housekeeping every day for one and she said okay but then there would never be one. Then the last day we were there, our housekeeper brought her one and told her to take it home. She was SOO excited! She said she didnt' know how so she had someone else make it. So on top of the tip we had there, we added some more. So since our housekeeper told my DD5 to take it, we couldn't tell her not to keep it. :)

you know I noticed that they were made of a very cheap thin material different from the rooms..maybe they anticipate that they might be taken home...makes me feel a little better.

it's different if they tell you you can have them..... we were 2 adults and I tried to tell him that someone with little kids might get this room after us, and they would enjoy them...he didnt' care....cause they aren't put in all rooms...my second visit to WDW they didnt' put a towel animal in my room...I don't have kids...but LOVE DIsney....and things like that. to me are for the kids..i'll enjoy it if it's in my room but i'll leave it for the next possible family to enjoy..:-)

That is too cool. A bit less magical when I think of a storage room of towel figures however... But to be expected if guess.

I'm not saying their not made fresh daily.. just from different towel stock. :)

The few times my family and I got towel animals we didn't take them home because we didn't want to, however I noticed the eyes and etc are glued on. So if people wanted to take them home I don't see anything wrong with it because those towels can no longer be used anymore.

I wipe my hands with mine.

my daughter became crazy attached to one (she is 2) this last time we were there, it was a very small one and i do tip the maid every day so when we were leaving and she saw it and started to cry that we were leaving her friend i let her take it knowing that the front desk had oked it for many people on the boards.... she held the thing the whole way home just about (8 hour drive). I don't feel bad about it and i did leave 2 other towel animals in the room.
