We are planning our first trip to DL and I'm wondering if matching shirts are popular at DL like they are at WDW?

We went to WDW a few years back and did matching shirts a few days. There were many families wearing matching shirts so we didn't feel like odd balls. I enjoyed having a matching look for pictures but wont bother if we'll stick out like a sore thumb.

I've seen families wearing matching shirts, but it's not as common as it is in WDW. In general, I don't think you'll stick out like a sore thumb, but you will be in the minority.

We do, but as pp said it doesn't seem to be as common. Last year my kids and I all had the same shirt. Last time we went, my sister and I coordinated shirts for the kids, and we are again for our trip next week.

My family said they would disown me if did shirts for our first trip to DLR this weekend. I was sad.

We are going to wear matching shirts for our trip in September. We found really cool Mickey Mouse tiedye shirts on Etsy. Haven't ordered them yet, but will after payday!! I don't care if we are odd balls! Life it too short to care what other people think!! Especially the ones I will never see again in Disneyland.

They will regret it, making your 1st trip to DLR extra special is a great idea and they will Thank You for it.

I love matching shirts for families! I always comment because I know someone went to a lot of trouble:thumbsup2

Haha! Love it! OP, wear your matching shirts with pride and have a wonderful vacation!

We do! Not always the same exact shirt, but we have all worn an Animal or all Mickey shirts. I love pics when we are in the same color but of different shades.

Like other said, NOT as common as WDW. In fact, I felt a little silly the day my son and I wore our matching Dr. Who shirts. (Obviously not silly enough not to do it, lol).

^^This^^ X3

Do what you want, and have fun!! With what we see nowadays it's almost hard to stand out so yeah, have fun, and by all means don't worry about what others think!

We are. My wife had some family vacation shirts made for all 10 of us including the kids. They are awesome and I don't care if no one else has matching shirts. In fact, we have 2 sets because of a customer service issue. Not sure how excited everyone is about matching on TWO days. :lmao:

No, people don't do that as a rule. There is the occasional occurrence, but not common at all.

We always wear matching shirts on vacation. Even to Universal, or Williamsburg VA -why? because I forget what my kids or husband are wearing and then can't find them in a crowd. This way if everyone is wearing a NY Yankess, UCONN Huskies, or a Mickey tie dye shirt I can just look down and remind myself - oh yes we're all in x today. But I am a little ditzy that way - and I tend to wander - not them. They all stick together LOL

I have made us matching shirts for a couple days of our trip!! I can't believe my boyfriend actually agreed to it but they are made now so he can't go back on it :rotfl2: and my kiddos have not really matching but homemade shirts for all their days

I did make shirts for a couple of trips to DL when the kids were younger. We did get many compliments from people about them. The bonus is that we were able to find the kids easier in heavy crowds than normal, as I had done tie dye and the shirts really stood out from the crowd. Now the kids are older I know that they wouldn't like to have matching shirts, as they have very different tastes in clothes.

I have all ages (16, 14, 13, 8, 6 & 5) and they have all asked when we are going to start making our shirts (we don't even go until October). We do one tie die Mickey Shirt, Mickey head shirt and then just all wear the same character but the designs are different. They love the extra attention, one day Mad Hatter was walking past, noticed the girls shirt stopped made some small talk then lined them up in order, posed them (had them fold arms and stick out their tongues) got in line with them and told me to take a picture. It is our favorite picture and makes our trips more magical. So worth it even if you are in the minority. :goodvibes

My daughter and I wore matching Mickey tie dye shirts on our first day in February. On another day my friend and her baby joined us and we all wore shirts with an appliqued Mickey head made from Monsters University fabric. And on a third day I'd made matching shirts for my daughter and the baby.

We didn't stick out in the least. Some people noticed and commented nicely. We fit in just fine and matched nicely for pictures. :)

We're going back this summer, and at my daughters request, I've made new matching tie dye shirts in different colors for my daughter and her cribmate. (Lived in orphanage together as babies. We're going to DLR on our way to the annual orphanage reunion.) I've also make them freezer paper stencil shirts with the Monsters, Inc logo. No additional matching shirts for me this time, I think. I'll just wear the shirts from before...

But then, I won't match... :scratchin May have to rethink that. ;)

Bottom line... Wear the matching shirts! I promise you won't regret it! :cheer2:
