Okay... So Saturday it was cool here and I decided I would bake a cake..

It looked like a yummy cake.. It smelled like a yummy cake.. It was the prettiest shade of pale yellow..

Once the cake was done, I went to my cupboard to find some frosting and all I had was chocolate frosting.. I like chocolate frosting.. Chocolate frosting is yummy.. Yummy, yummy chocolate frosting - sweet and smooth...

So I took my yummy chocolate frosting and very carefully frosted my yummy pale yellow cake...

Sunday I decided to have a big slice of my yummy pale yellow cake with yummy sweet and smooth chocolate frosting....

It was............

Disgusting !!!!!!!

Don't ever try this at home - LEMON cake with chocolate frosting! It has to be one of the worst things I've ever tasted.. Right up there with castor oil.. Yuck, yuck and double yuck!!

Now the cake is in the garbage and I don't have any cake to snack on.. (sob..choke..sniffle..) :(

Would someone please send me a nice big piece of CHERRY cake with chocolate frosting? Please? Please? PRETTY please?????

As long as they're not LEMON with chocolate frosting, I'll take a dozen.. How much do I owe you? :rotfl:

LOL C.Ann!

I am sorry your cake was such a disappointment. Thanks for the warning! Hope your next cake turns out better.

can you at least wipe your finger in the frosting jar??

We don't have anything sweet around here tonight. I think I'll pop some cinnamon rolls in the oven. You can come have some if you like.

Mmmmmm..cinnamon rolls are good.. I'll be right over.. :moped: Psst..can I borrow a few bucks for gas? :rotfl:

hmmmm....I think I could have eaten it! (See's truffles in lemon with dark chocolate are pretty yummy!) I buy lemon cake mix to make lemon bars - otherwise I wouldn't even have it in the house. Poor C.Ann - no sweets!

My mother did this on purpose to my sister's birthday cake once. I even tried to talk her out of it, but she insisted. She was offended when we wouldn't eat it. She thought it was just fine. :rotfl: :rotfl:

At my parent's house you are not allowed to turn your nose up at food. I don't get it. If I make something that turns out horrible, I tell everyone not to eat it. If my mom makes something, she insists it's fine and makes you eat it. Can I come eat at your house?

Oooooooo..brownies! Brownies are GOOD!! Could you overnight one to me? Thanks! :teeth:

Sorry your cake didn't turn out all yummy.

This thread reminded me that I forgot to pick up some walnuts at the grocery store because I wanted to make some fudge tonight.

Wait! Is YOUR mom MY mom? I'll never forget the time she was up here to the lake with me and the power went out.. She insisted we could make perfectly good coffee in the old percolator (minue the inners) out on the camp fire.. She took the ground coffee and just tossed it right into the water - no filtration system at all.. Then she boiled it up and poured ("scooped") it out into cups.. Oh my word - it was like drinking a cup of the grittiest MUD you could ever find!!! And she just sat there saying, "Mmmm..isn't this DELICIOUS ???" :earseek:

If you are of age, yes - you may come and eat at my house.. :teeth:

Did you throw it out? How far are you from Connecticut? :) My husband LOVES lemon cake with chocolate frosting... :crazy2:

My favorite is yellow (plain!) cake with chocolate frosting. And everytime I make it, he cuts into it and asks hopefully... "Is it lemon?" And is so disappointed when it's not... :guilty:

He would have eaten it for you!!!!! :rotfl2: Blech!!!!

TeeHee Is 43 of age enough? I guess I neglected to mention that at this point I'm only subjected to my mother's taste buds about once a year.

You're kidding, right? Does he like castor oil too? :rotfl:

Depending on where you are in Connecticut, you could probably be here in 5 hours or so.. I did throw it out, but the only other stuff in the garbage right now is little pieces of paper from the scrapbook project I'm working on this week.. We could tell him it's that candy confetti that they decorate cakes with these days............ :rotfl2:

:rotfl: Sadly, no. :rotfl2: Lives for lemon/chocolate cake. His mom made it accidentally once (easy enough to do, right?!?! :teeth: ) and he was hooked. Asked for it every birthday as a kid.

Mmmmm... paper confetti ruffage! He'd gobble it right up if it meant he actually got the cake I refuse to make! :rotfl:
