Do moaners get all the pixie dust?

Naive-No
Lets see the proof?
Lets not make these ppl feel like they are possibly on this list, when no one knows for sure if its true, & if that particular person is on this supposed list.

I think the word of a poster who works for WDW is proof.

I'd say if someone is paranoid that they may be on the list, then maybe they are on the list. I've had to complain a couple of times, and if that puts me on some list to not get freebies, so what? I don't think they look at the list and then put all of those guests in the worst rooms, or give them the worst service.

Many businesses have lists of people who make a lot of complaints, or who receive multiple freebies. Even stores have them! Why would you think a company as large as Disney, who has people filing complaints on a daily basis, would not? I would be shocked if they didn't have a list!

You know as well as everyone else that no CM can post anything internal here.

The few times I have complained about something, the problem has usually been resolved, but no upgrade or perk was offered.

We have received upgrades, but it was always a surprise when we were already happy to just be at Disney.

OK, before things go completely off the rails....

It would be a lovely world indeed if no one ever attempted to scam a hotel (or other business) out of money by claiming something happened that didn't, and seeking compensation for it. Unfortunately, that's not the world that we live in.

I've read of people faking accidents and injuries in hotels and demanding that their stay be comped, or suing the hotel operator. I've read of people purposely damaging things in their room, and then complaining that their stay was ruined because that thing didn't work, and that they want their stay comped. The stories are endless.

Hotels must protect themselves against these and other kinds of losses, and they have a number of ways that they do it. One of these ways is to maintain a record of any compensation given to a guest, so that if that guest's name turns up four times in a week at various resorts and theme parks, and then the same thing happens six months later, they see the pattern and know that the guest may be up to something. The criteria for giving that guest compensation are going to get a lot stricter.

If you're Mr & Mrs Nice Guest, and you complain at a resort because the toilet in the room above overflowed and ruined some of your clothes, and you get 2 nights of your stay comped by the nice manager, are you blacklisted forever and will be verbally abused and snickered at and given a bad room every time you stay at WDW? Of course not. That's ludicrous. That's not why these records are kept.

Actually, it's a plus for all the honest guests that a compensation list is kept. If a hotel's not making its profit targets because they're constantly giving comp nights and free meals and monetary awards to scammers, who do you think pays for that? Not the hotel company. You and I do, in increased room rates.

Again, this is standard practice in the hotel industry (and many other businesses), and has been for a very long time.

I fear that a lot of people have just been given yet another thing to obsess over.

We've been upgraded 3 times and I have to agree with PP, I think it was asigned before we arrived at our resort. We are not complainers by nature and only once in all of our trips did I actually have to get management involved. During one stay at POR our shower liner had mold running all over the inside, I called twice to mousekeeping and nobody ever came to replace it. DD is asthmatic and couldn't be in a room with rampant mold on the shower curtain. So I called down to the front desk and asked to speak to the shift manager. I spoke with an absolutely wonderfull gentleman who promptly came to replace the liner himself. I certainly didn't expect any sort of an upgrade for it. I just wanted a clean liner. :goodvibes

I was given 3 free nights on a future visit because of mold in our bathroom and having to call maintenance several times to turn off the stream of water in the bath tub, which was still not fixed when we checked out at the end of the week, but rather made worse. The tv had to be serviced twice before they got it working. I sucked it up and didn't say anything to management while we were there, but I did mention the problem to my TA when she asked how our vacation went. She then contacted Disney about it which I did not ask her to do. Disney then contacted me. They were able to pull the maintenance records and see that the maintenance staff had to go to our room several times to fix the tub faucet and the tv. The Quality Assurance team sent over an inspector to the room several weeks after we checked out, when they called me, and saw all the mold I was talking about was still there. Disney contacted me and sent me a voucher for 3 free nights that does not expire. I thought it was a very kind thing for Disney to do. I do not consider myself a moaner though.

I have no idea if there is a MOOCH list, but it sounds very plausible in this light. When I go to Walmart to return something, they take down my ID number. I have returned many things at Walmart, but I never have a problem doing so. Walmart, however, does need to keep a list if someone is getting $300 from them every week returning items.

The other part of the magic of Disney that I love is when you get a chance to help someone else. Occasionally, we have had to leave a theme park early without using our last fast passes. Looking for someone to give them to and being able to provide a little magic for someone else is a lot more fun than even getting them for yourself. It makes you feel more like you are a part of the magic when you can give a little too, even if it is just a smile or a seat on the bus to someone who looks more tired than you are.

WE like to do that as well. If its our last day and we still have quick service meals or snack credits left from our dining plan, we will scope out people we want to give to and go in line with them and pay for them. It's a good feeling seeing thier faces!

Love this story!!! :) Yesterday we had four passes at our local waterpark that expired that day! It was only DD and myself. We found 2 people in line, and all walked in together. I told them I wanted to "pixie dust" them. They looked at me like I was psycho, almost to the point they didnt want to get in line with me, let alone trust me to pay for their way in. HAHA I forget not everyone lives in a disney bubble like me!!

last year was my first upgrade in 24 prior visits....when they asked if i was celebrating something special i did tell them my 60th birthday. if that meant anything :confused3
also, my flight landed at about 1015am and was to the All Star Music by 1130a..i pre registered online....
i had my room key before 12p :dance3::dance3: which i though was amazing..and was upgraded from a standard to preferred room...i have no idea the CM asked "i know you asked for a first floor but a 3rd floor is available...is that ok? " i felt like...OK ... you can ask but they tell you nothing is definate... then if i wanted a king room ...didnt matter since i was there myself...and he gave my my room key

then, tipping......i always leave tips for the Mousekeepers...every day as i had read in the past...because you might have one mousekeeper mon-fri but when you check out on sat and leave a tip someone else will get it. friends who i know dont tip have stated they never get the towel animals etc ( i got a different one every day) extra soaps & shampoos, etc because i tipped :confused3
i also did small things...bagged up the garbage, especially if food was in it...stuff like that...maybe it is appreciated by the mousekeepers :confused:
but will do it again next time...even got a towel birthday cake on my birthday :woohoo::woohoo::banana:

Don't worry they do. I have worked the return counter at a retail store when I was in my teens. They track how many returns you do, if you have receipts, etc. There is a list kept. It is watched for patterns by the store's security. If they notice you are making lots of returns without receipts esp. for higher priced items, you are flagged.

I have always wondered that if your package includes free dining or a room only type of discount if they are less likely to bestow pixie dust because they think you are already getting a "deal"? It would be interesting to hear people's experiences.

Our very first trip when we knew NOTHING about WDW, we were trying to keep the price as low as possible and had Free Dining. We paid for a standard room at Pop. We checked in, went to our room, and it was on the first floor, 60's section, facing the hippy dippy pool. The CM didnt say anything, and if it hadnt been for planning our next trip, I wouldnt have even known that we had been upgraded to Preferred Pool view. I have no clue if we were assigned that room already, or if the CM pixie dusted us b/c we were over the top excited to be there on our first trip! The world may never know! ;)

Exactly, so I wouldn't be surprised that Disney keeps a list like this. I would doubt that anyone is treated badly, but it makes sense that if you were known to constantly try to get freebies that the CMs would be instructed to stick with policy as much as possible (instead of offering extras).

woW ~ so many different views , making some really good points.

no offense, you are correct in your observations...but if
i wrote it all out....it would have been a real story-book size.
( i am using a soap format ...just "hitting" the high points. )

"us" mental health professionals , sometimes like to get a 'lil-
crazy" too. ( awhile ago read in reader dig., that humor is
the grease ....that reduce life friction. yes, i believe that.

ok..just a lil' promotional material....long before i did a mental
health career..." i shared the same feelings toward it , like
the general population".....what i discovered thru the years--
the knowledge that makes up this science is invaluable
toward those seeking happiness. it works in ways that
can surprise and delight your journals thru life...funny thing
is......the knowledge has been around long before it was
official ..thru old wise tales....so if someone ever ask me,
"how to find success in life, i would suggest learning these
facts because the insights will increase the odds, way
better than left to chance. ( growing up being a paper
boy with many elderly costumers who gave me an
education that paid outstanding dividends..* i just wish
thank them..but didn't realized it til adulthood.)

whether there's a list or not , i don't care unless some are
using it to hurt others on a personal level instead of
"abusers" & /or to manipulate the company. i have learn
"enough" from dvc to realize , that there are 2 sides
to this story.

reading the vary replies here, gave me pause-"where i never
thought about how many encounters we have had over
the years....the good, the bad, & the ugly. " i am not a
prefect person & have made my fair share of mistakes.
i think wdw is for all persons across the world. this
thing called pixie dust , is something that can't be made-
&/nor force- (takes it magic meanings away). however, i
think "one" of the best kept secret on capturing it, is anything
you do to help your fellow guests--& (true
because everyone is there for the same reason.) fun.
