Do Men Still Wear white tennis shoes?

Dh only wears white sneakers. Normally New Balance with a bit of blue in them.

Tell him also if they were not popular that they wouldn't sell that many styles of them.

:rolleyes1 Ha, I have that exact pair and yes, they are completely out of style. I have graduated to Keen sandals and boots.

I guess it depends on your age group. Those are not at all out of style imo. Adidas are classic and trendy. I don't know how that's possible but I swear it is! lol

By the by, the fashion sketchers are not all that comfortable for lots of walking.

The biggest flaw of "fashion" rears its ugly head again.

What will look good is partially based on public opinion and trends, I'll give you that, but a large component is based on body type, build, and how it fits.

Same goes for shoes. Some people look ridiculous in tiny white tennis shoes and others look silly in hybrids, sneakers, etc.. with blaring colors and such.

And for the record, never trying to look like a hipster with their rolled cuff denim and boat-shoes-that-never-met-a-boat is typically good advice.

Whatever's in now will be out next spring, and whatever's out now will be in next spring anyway...

Reference: They waited til we all got rid of our skinny leg jeans and bought "boot cut", then they brought back the skinny legs.

As soon as we all get colorful shoes, suddenly pure white will be all the rage.

I'm frankly tired of worrying about it! And previous posters are so right - at Disney, comfort definitely trumps style anyhow!

Ever since I met him DH has worn white tennies. I don't like colored shoes so white it'll be until one of us dies. LOL

p.s. do people really look at the color of someone elses TENNIS SHOES? especially when that someone is on vacation? Wow! IMHO that's messed up. LOL

Well there Brunette, your DH must be on lucky guy!!! :woohoo:

I mean, how many DH's have the luxury of having their DW's tell them what to wear?!?:thumbsup2 Think about it, I mean, if he didn't have you to point out what to wear, heck, he may just do something silly like worry about being "comfortable"!!

Oh the horror!! :scared1:

Personally, I've seen many women walking around the parks with their high heels and Jimmy Choo's, I can only imagine the years of therapy required to fix the damage done! But what the heck, so long as they look "stylish"!!:cool1:

Not for this Pirate!!! AAAaaargh!! pirate:

Here's a tip for all you DW's and DGF's out there: your "man" knows what he likes! And some aging guys, don't want to try to act 30 years younger than they are!! Personally, I like Addidas Classic and New Balance. Very comfortable and very "white"!! LOL!!

At the end of the day, it's all about "happy feet"!!

Cute post! :hippie:

I thought that the phrase "tennis shoes" went out of style A LONG time ago :)

My DH (mid 40's) has been wearing these Reebok's since they were created in the 80's - yes, he will not wear anything but white on white - and searches all stores for this particular style... Frankly, i am surprised they still make them. Are they considered "classic"?

Well, I suppose I prefer him in the white on white Reeboks than the Reeboks my DS (17) wears:

YES - THEY ARE KOOL AID SNEAKERS!!! Some of you may see them when we are there on our next trip in nov/dec.

Love those Kool-aid shoes!!!!!!

I need to get a pair for ds.

I have to agree that at Disney wear what ever shoes you are comfortable in -

BUT if you are going to wear the white shoes DON'T wear black socks! ;)

I think it probably depends on the TYPE of white sneaker. Those Reebok "classic walking" shoes are probably not the way to go.

Nobody's going to laugh at your Air Jordan's though. :confused3

I agree with another poster.... I think most are missing the point. Comfort is what you should go for IMO when spending long days walking miles and miles in the park.

I have the exact same shoes you quote. Although I love them, and wear them regularly, they are NOT comfortable for long walks. Maybe it's my "flat feet", but my feet kill me when I've spent a couple of hours in those shoes, so I would definitely recommend the tennis shoes....

Real men do not concern themselves about whether or not wearing white sneakers is in fashion.

Unless they are wearing black jeans, it totally clashes.

At work I would always wear blue jeans and my classic white Reeboks. A few weeks ago the powers that be said no more jeans. So now I just wear my khaki Dockers with my trusty shoes. Screw'em if they can't take a joke. Take that Beau Brock!!!

Out of style for most, but to me they're still tennis shoes. I can even remember when they first gained popularity--High top PF Flyers and then US Keds.

i guess its just me :) i remember growing up that NO ONE called them tennis shoes except the grandparents. guess its more common than i thought!

my bad :)

Ah--I'm quite old enough to BE a grandparent:):)

And you were correct--probably only us old folks call them tennis shoes. For the majority, it's sneakers.

lol, technically i am probably old enough to be a grandparent too.

nah, i doubt that all the posters that said "tennis shoes" are not "old folks", lol

Yeah, I'd say they probably do...so long as they don't look like old-man shoes. My father and father-in-law have both recently bought pairs of New Balance tennis shoes in white. My dh'd tennis shoes are black, but only because he liked both the look and feel of them.
