Do men pay attention to fingernails on women?

Short story: I know this seems like a strange question, but do men notice if women have painted fingernails, manicures, etc.?

Longer story: My coworker (Amber) has a crush on one of our vendors (Jeff) and every time that Jeff comes to the office Amber always flirts with him. He showed up this morning and Amber said she had to hide from him because she hadn't had a manicure for a few weeks and he would be turned off.

I think that guys would notice if a woman's nails were dirty, like grime under them but unmanicured nails..not so much.

DH sure does..

He HATES the majority of painted fingernails. He thinks fake nails are gross (he told me I looked like Wolverine from the X-Men when I got them once!) and so do all his guy friends. DH does like when I do my toes though...

I doubt many guys really care unless their like DH and really despise painted fingernails.

It's funny because I never worry about my hands. But I am a whacknut about my feet! If my toes are done, I feel pretty! :goodvibes

My DH does notice and care. I don't do my nails very often but when I do he always notices. He likes when I have my nails done.

Now my toes are a different story. It drives him nuts if they're not done. He actually commented last night that it was time to head to the salon to get a pedicure. He notices long before I do.

Depends on the guy I guess. Some guys like women who are well preened and who look high maintenance, other guys like the more down home look. Same goes for women, some like the blue collar working man look and others prefer a more business look.

It sounds to me like Amber knows which sort she has and is working with it.

Some guys do notice.

It's been a couple of years, but one of the guys I work with pointed out to me after I had gotten my fingers and toes done, that the colors I went with perfectly matched the braclet that I always wore.

Sure enough, the color I had my fingernails painted perfectly matched the light purple of the one beads and the darker purple of the other beads perfectly matched the color on my toes. I didn't notice, the girl who always did my nails didn't notice, DH didn't notice, but one of the guys at work did.

I notice. I'm especially fond of a French manicure because they look done and natural at the same time. However, I'm not repelled by other colors. I will agree that fake nails and ultra-stylized nails are a huge turn-off. As for toenails, it's a bonus if they're done, too. As a completely anecdotal and unscientific aside, I have noticed that more women have just their toenails done than have their fingernails done. Why is that? Still, if I'm attracted to someone whether or not her nails are done falls low on the priority list. But, yes, we notice. ;)

I asked DH, and he said he didn't notice nails "unless they're clawing me". :lmao: I also asked if he liked high maintenance, preened women and he laughed and said he liked "down home look" women.

My DH does not care if my nails are done or not, including toes. I do it for myself...it makes me feel good. :)

Only if women hold their hands directly in front of their chest. Seriously, why would a guy care? Dirty, I can see that but not much else.

Just asked my husband. He says women with long, fake nails or long always perfect nails make him think those women are 'high maintenance.' His words, not mine, lol! I would translate his words to mean 'worried about insignificant things.' I keep my nails filed, a little long and with clear polish. I get a pedicure when summer hits and my toes will be showing.

This is so true. My DH definitely prefers the high maintenance type (thank goodness!) and he always notices my nails as well as clothes, hair, make-up, jewelry, etc. He's even particular about the color of nail polish I wear. If it's not red, he doesn't like it.

I agree that a French Manicure looks cool, and that dirty nails are gross.

But being turned off if a girl hasn't had a recent manicure? Um, no. Where I'm from if a guy is turned off by that, he probably doesn't like girls.

I know they do.

I keep mine with French - my toes too. Mine are gels but shorter not claws, I do have to work. I even find long claws - ick!!

My Nail Tech does such a good job they look more real then real nails. So my DBF has no idea they are gel overlay :thumbsup2

Hell yes. And gorgeous pedicured toes in an open toe shoe.

Add some toe cleavage and you've got a winner.:woohoo:

I would probably notice fingernails, but it wouldn't be a deal breaker as long as ther weren't dirty or gnawed on.

Will he be upset when he finds out that you've had a "nail job"?
