Do men pay attention to fingernails on women?

I notice either fingernails that are too long, fake, or gaudy, or one that are chewed to pieces, grimely or otherwise nasty. Everything in between I could care less about. I think finely manicured and painted nails are for the women themselves, as they aren't real high on a man's focus.

My husband doesn't notice stuff like that. One thing he will always notice and remark on, and NOT in a nice way, is a french manicure on the toes. He thinks it's creepy and I don't like it either. At first glance it looks like toenails that really need a trim.

Some men do. i think well manicured nails are part of the package of how you present yourself to the world. Fake or not having them clean and well cared for is important.

So here is me: I have no fetish but if you are going to wear sandals... paint them. I also don't like crazy weird stuff just a nice coat or a nice gloss. If the wife has chipped paint or no nails am I going to to care no. It's just nice if it happens to be freshly painted. I also never gave feet a thought... then the wife kept nagging me, "you never notice my toes!" So now I notice her toes. ONCE AGAIN I HAVE NO FETISH! It's just nice when a girl does .. upkeep.

Dh responded no, he doesn't notice...I had to educate him as to what toe cleavage is (I am a shoe freak so I certainly own a pair or two to show off some...)

I find it a bit amusing though because my dh is a bit metrosexual with much "product". hehe.

My husband notices my toes, probably because I always have them painted and looking nice. My fingernails not so much these days, so no compliments on them lately! Honestly, I think he likes when they look nice, but doesn't care if they're 'au natural' either.

I think it's interesting that most covers of magazines (especially men's magazines) show girls with nice, but plain nails. You don't see the acrylic white-tipped nails that's for sure. Rarely do I see any fingernail polish (other than clear) on celebrities or models in magazines.

I don't paint my fingernails because it seems "old lady" to me. I guess because my grandmother and every other woman I know over the age of 80 get their nails done once a week and it's always the same color: pink of some variation. I paint my toenails every once in awhile, more so during the Spring/Summer. I do keep all of my nails trimmed and filed though :).

My bf just said he hasn't made it past my face to notice my nails . He must be wanting to play a video game all day tomorrow :).

There are lots of body parts I notice and fingernails aren't usually one of them. I am usually attracted though to girls that play sports so I don't see a lot of the glue on nails. I never really understood the allure of gluing on body parts though but whatever, to each their own.

My husband likes it and i do as well. He especially likes my toes being done. I think it is gross when women wear open toes and they don't do upkeep on their toes.

I notice all the things that women do to be all feminine, and I like it

I only notice if they're super-long/ornate, or chewed off. Both are gross to me. Otherwise, doesn't make any difference.

I've had more than one man tell me I had nice nails and how much they love RED nails. That red nails are 'sexy'. So I say yes, some men do notice girls' nails.

That's because they liked the rest of the package before they got to your nice sexy red nails. :lmao:

I have to admit, nails are probably the last thing I will notice on a woman. And before you all think I'm that twisted, I do notice eyes and hair before I notice the two things ALL men will gravitate to. :goodvibes

My DH will notice if I polish my fingernails because I rarely do. I keep my fingernails short and filed. I play a lot of sports and nails would just get in the way. I also work in a chemical lab with acetone and since that is the main ingredient in some nail polish removers, the polish doesn't last long.

My toes, on the other hand, are always pedicured from April - October. I will not wear sandals without my toes finished.

It makes me want to ralf when I see nasty toes in sandals - and I don't mean crooked toes or unpolished toes. I mean when the nails are all chipped and long, dirty and unfiled on either men or women.

my dh doesn't like the 'high maintenance' look. even eye shadows and such, he thinks looks "too much", unless it's very subtle, natural colors (I never wear eye shadow - too much work for me). Eye liner and mascara always though.

I always have my toes painted, all sorts of fun colors, which I do myself. I got a pedicure once and hated it. My finger nails always only clear polish (when I remember), because nail color chips so easily unless you wear fake nails, which I don't.

I know a lot of men love the 'high maintenance' look, which is great for the girls who love that look too. I always say to my dd11 - everyone likes something different, and it's all ok!

I don't wear fake nails, but I do get shellac manicures every 3 weeks. If they chip within the first two weeks my manicurist will repaint. I hate getting a manicure and the paint only lasts a few days.

My DH likes painted finger nails. I do have fake nails and get them done every 2-3 weeks. I have small hands and very small nail beds and my nails look finny without a little and I do mean little length to them. I don't have them very long just a little over the nail bed.

I think it is really very funny how most people associate acrylic nails with being high maintenance. Really, the the women I know the opposite is true. Most of my friends that do it, do it because the clean their own houses, they do yard work they wash their cars. And they don't want their nail looking like a yard hand. They can't keep their own nails because of all the work they do, so they get them done and the polish stays on, just the opposite of a high maintenance girl if you ask me.

I've never heard of that - I might like that w/ a nice, natural color. Have to look into that. My nails themselves chip and peel on the side a lot, so maybe that would help. I'll have to look into it.

I can see where that would help the women not have "man hands" if they're doing all that outside work w/ their hands. It's more the 'look' of it, the color and length that make it high maintenance looking. If they're 'natural length' and a subtle color, they probably don't even look like manicured nails.

Regarding the shellac. I was getting mine done and the college student next to me was getting the shellac for her mom's wedding. I asked her about it, because my DD 12 will want something done for our cruise. She said it was wonderful. She has a french manicure done in the shellac and she said it was 2 weeks old. She had been doing house work, and had been to the beach on spring break and no chipping. She also said that the only chip she got was when she was baby sitting and they were playing outside with chalk and she scratched her nail on the asphalt. It took a small chip off. She highly recommended it.
