Do Marathon wkd Kids' Races fill up?

DH wants to sign DD for one of the kids' fun runs during marathon weekend. She says she wants to do it now, but I'm a bit worried that she is not going to want to take time away from the parks when we are actually there. It's only$5 so if in doubt I'll probably just register her ahead of time, but I'm just wondering if these events fill to capacity and if so, how far in advance typically?

ETA: Anyone who has done them, are they fun for the kids? I mean, fun enough to justify not riding POTC for the 11th time that trip?

You could register at the race this year.

My girls did them last year when they were 3 and 5. They loved them and loved getting a medal. We registered sometime in December and I noticed people still registering the day of. I don't know if they will ever fill up, maybe watch the Disney Sports site. My kids want to do them again this year at 4 and 6. These kids races are the shortest I have seen. The ones at my local races are usually 1/2 mile. So these races are definately easy to do.

The only thing I wish is that they had kids t-shirts available to buy. My girls really wanted one for the race.

Disney doesn't show a limit for the kids races at WDW. The DL 1/2 website shows there is a limit of 1000 for the kids race out there. It is already full too!

I agree with others that if it gets close to a limit, Disney will post it on their website.
