Do many people dress up for Pirate night?

We are cruising in just under a month and I am making pirate outfits for our group of 9 and I am now worrying that we will be the only ones dressed up and look like fools. I am even more worried that I will make my parents feel uncomfortable. We cruised on the first WB Panama cruise and a lot of people dressed up but now that I think of it maybe it was just because it was a longer cruise. What do you all think?

I posted the same question. I have read that it's 50/50. My thinking is why not. Who cares. Why not and have some fun.

It's mixed. Some guests dress to the hilt....look like they were costumed by Disney. Others wear the bandana that they got at dinner or just regular clothing. You won't be out of place no matter what you choose.

THe only negative to dressing up is more stuff to put in your suitcase.....If you do dress up, be sure your costume is "wearer friendly" especially for little kids. Comfort is more important than looking good, or the kids will be shedding the good looks quickly. Ditto for shoes on formal night (think sandals for teens!)

We had quite a few dress up on our cruise in March. While I didn't dress as a pirate, I did wear a Pirate themed T-Shirt.

Go for it - even if you are the only ones dressed up. Everyone else will wish they had dressed up. And the CMs will love you for it. With all the CMs dressed up you will not feel out of place.

The only thing I've stopped bringing was the long wool cloak I had as part of my costume. Man, did I sweat in that thing since I always cruise in August.

Go for it and have fun!

On our 7 night cruise last November there was a lot of people dressed up...some more than others...anything from jeans and skull shirts too full pirate gear...

We were first time cruiser but found out about dressing up for pirate night here:goodvibes I am so happy we did since most people did. For the most part we went pretty simple with it...we just used old clothes and maybe spent about $15. When waiting in line to get our picture taken with Mickey I had two different families come up and say they wish they knew about dressing up for pirate night. It really did make for a extra fun dining experience too.

Next cruise we plan going being much more elaborate with our costumes! We thought is was more fun then formal night;)

We've been on four cruises since they started doing Pirate night and have found that on each cruise, more and more people dress up and many with very elaborate (and impressive) pirate costumes. You definitely will not feel out of place!

We had a lot of people dressed up on our three-night cruise and a lot of people bought the pirate items they sold on board. I was really surprised with the number of piarte-attired folks, especially since most of the cruisers were first-timers.

We did a 3 night in April and we dressed up...mainly just eye patches, skull/crossbone jewelry, pirate hats...My husband is a Tampa Bay fan, so he wore jeans and TB Polo with the pirate symbol. I gave him a HUGE temporary tattoo, and he wore an eyepatch and the pirate bandana as a 'do' rag...When we walked in to PC for dinner, it seemed that we were the only ones dresses! There were a few. But my DD10 immediately removed her eye patch and gold jewlery:rolleyes:
My DH kinda made fun of me for a minute for making everyone dress up, but after some around us started giving us compliments and then putting on their bandanas (provided by DCL), we laughed it off.
Funny thing is, I have a hard time getting DH in for a family portrait. I have my 8X10 photo of us dressed up in Pirate attire at dinner that night proudly hung in the living room for everyone to see us as PIRATES!!!
I will most definetly dress everyone up again, but I don't think DH will go for the tattoo again, though:) I say go for it. Maybe for the parents, have them dress in normal clothing and add pirate accessories. DD10 was able to transform her outfit quickly as she was embarrassed:rolleyes:
Just remember, you are there to have fun, and being in character is a lot of fun!!

Well, first off... who cares if anyone else dresses up? You're there to have fun and if it'd be fun for your family then do it.

We didnt' notice a lot of people dressed as pirates on our cruise. Oh there were some bandanas on the heads (the ones they give you at dinner) but other than that, not a lot. We, on the other hand, went all out and had a great time! I noticed one other family dressed as much as we did and everyone was tellling both families how cool they looked.

Just go and have fun. If this is fun for you then do it.

Besides.. it gave me an excuse to walk around the whole ship barefooted which I dearly loved (I can't stand shoes!). :rotfl2:
