Do many members rent points at 11 months?

Hi! I've been over on the other discussion boards for awhile, but I'm fairly new to the DVC board. I'm not a DVC member, but someone very interested in renting points. I've read all of the sticky notes, and am comfortable with the renting process. I have often rented condos at the beach from people I don't know and have never gotten burned. And I believe that people on the DIS boards are probably some of the most trustworthy Disney loyalists there are!

I have been researching the DVC resorts and shown them all to my family. We've pretty much decided that our favorites are BWV and BCV, mostly for the proximity to Epcot & MGM. Our trip is not until October 2006. The exact dates depend upon DD's fall break, which I should know by this August. My question is, do many members rent their points 11 months in advance, so I could make my ressies in Nov. 2005? We're probably going to go for a studio, as our kids will be 4 & 8 at the time of this trip. Even though you guys consider studios to be small, they'll be huge by our usual value resort standards!

I just want to be realistic in my expectations. I don't want to be all ready to make reservations, and there be no one willing to rent to me before the 7 month window opens. And then, once that window opens, my dates may disappear.

And to all of you who do rent your points, thank you. You really provide a great way for me to get my budget-minded husband to try a deluxe. And maybe win him over to look seriously at buying into DVC!! Shhhh... wouldn't want him to discover my sneaky plans of entrapment.

Thanks again!
Christy

I wouldn't worry - there will be some BWV owners willing to rent you points at the 11 month mark.

Unless you want a standard view or a guaranteed Boardwalk view, you don't have to rent right at the 11 month mark. However, since Food & Wine Festival time is a busy one for the EPCOT resorts, make sure you get your reservataion before the 7 month window opens.

Good luck with your DH - I think once he experiences DVC, he might just surprise you and get serious about buying in.

Best wishes-

Actually you don't have to wait until 11-months out to set up your rental. You could do that 12, 13, 15 months out, whatever you'd like. The only thing about the 11-month mark is that the owner cannot make the reservation until that date.

You could still plan your dates, contact an owner with home resort points at the resort where you want to stay, agree on prices, get a contract in place, etc, all before the 11-months mark. Then the owner only has to make the actual reservation.
