Inspired by the Conn. haunting...
I notice that the people who find themselves in haunted houses or see ghosts/have troubles with ghosts are Christians! Now, I don't know if this family was Christian since I didn't see the movie and don't know if a priest was called in, but it seems that supposed demon possessions and hauntings happen to Christians. I surmise this from the way they often call in priests to help deal with it.

I asked my Jewish SIL about this, and she said Jews are taught to believe there are no such thing as ghosts. So if ghosts are indeed real, do they stay away from people who don't believe in them?

I don't know about Jews, but we're Christians and we don't believe in ghosts either. :confused3 But when I was a kid I used to wonder how come Catholic kids got to see cool visions of the Virgin Mary but none of us Southern Baptists ever saw her.

Nothing to really add. Just wanted to follow the rule. ;)

Hmmm... never thought about it... now I will ponder it until a good answer comes up here! :)

My best friend is Jewish and has seen ghosts. I'm pagan and see ghosts. It's not just a Christian thing.

I'm a Christian and have never seen/don't believe in ghosts. I have Jewish friends who do believe in ghosts. I have Jewish friends who don't. :confused3

Im catholic and when i was a kid I had a friend who was a ghost. He was the friendliest ghost you would know. The grownups use to look at him with fright,
But all the children all love him so.
He always says hello, and he's really glad to meet ya'. Wherever he may go,
he's was kind to every living creature.
Grownups didn't understand, why children love him the most. But kids all know that he loveds them so.

;)See ya soon!

Seeing ghosts has nothing to do with being Jewish...i'm Jewish and i believe in ghosts. People don't usually believe in them till they see them.

Yeah, he may have been friendly but that girlfriend of his was a real witch...
;)

I've always wondered why every single time someone spots Jesus or the Virgin Mary in a tree, grease stain, wall of a house, piece of toast, etc., it is ALWAYS a Catholic. I am not kidding. Always. It's never a Baptist, Methodist, and certainly never a Jew. Not long ago, someone in Texas (I think) came across a Cheeto that resembled Jesus....yes, Cheesus :rotfl2:.....and they were going to auction it off on eBay. I watched the interview and told my sister they had Methodist, Presbyterian or maybe Episcopalian written all over them. Yes, they were amused by Cheesus anad happy to have found "him", but they did not revere it. They wanted to strike while the iron was hot and sell Cheesus to someone who would fully "appreciate" his finer qualities. I could relate to them. :thumbsup2 If I was every so fortunate as to come across a Cheesus, I'd sell it in a heartbeat. Otherwise, I'd probably forget about his unique qualities and just eat him in one crunch anyway. :rotfl:

I admit.....I inspected the contents of my next bag of Cheetos more carefully, but to no avail. ;)

EMom, you'd burn in heck if you ate Cheesus! :scared:

;) :rotfl2:

In college one of my instructors was Jewish and he told us about ghostly encounter he while was vacationing. But he wasn't really a practicing Jew.

As an agnostic Jew, this actually makes perfect sense to me. People tend to "see" what they believe in.

People also tend to not believe in what they haven't seen for themselves.

Seeing or believing in ghosts has nothing to do with being Christian IMO.

:lmao:Now that made me laugh out loud! I was a Southern Baptist kid who ended up in Catholic school (long story). I was always jealous that the Catholic kids could go to confession. In my kid's mind, it was like a get-out-of-jail-free card!

I had to look that one up!

We are Christian and don't believe our souls wonder around aimlessly after death either.

somewhat off topic, but when DH and I were first married, we had a creche scene set up at Christmas time. The pieces were fairly expensive, so we only got a few at a time....they were gifts from my crazy aunt who didn't realize that having a baby Jesus in the manger was kind of important :lmao::lmao: Anyways....the first year we put it up, my son who was about 3 at the time, used a cheeto in the place of a baby figurine. We ALWAYS refer to him as the Baby Cheesus in our house.... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

and, no, the cheeto didn't have any distinct markings. :rotfl:
