DH and I went to our local IHOP for some of that awesome looking stuffed french toast. Now, I don't mean to be rude, but this IHOP isn't in the best of locations. The clientele and employees tend to be a little rough around the edges, to put it nicely.;)

We go the hostess desk to give her our name for the waiting list. She hands DH a blue crayon and tells him to write his name and the time he arrived on the back of a placemat!

He then asked if he would be preparing his own food too.

LOL!

Kind of reminds me of when our local grocery store first installed those self checkout lines. I ran in for a few quick items one day, and the self checkout was the only express lane open, so my choice was to use the self checkout or wait behind a bunch of people weith full grocery carts. Anyway, after completing the self checkout, I asked the attendant when I should expect my check. She looked at me strangely, and I said well, I'm now doing the job of a checkout clerk, when should I expect my check?
I did say this jokingly, but I can't help but think there is a grain of truth to it.

Service..... ah, yes, ..... I remember those days!!

Remember when you used to go to the gas station. Self serv was unheard of! They'd actually pump your gas, check your oil, wiper fluid, and your tires!!!

I have to use those self checkouts at Walmart all the time. Walmart is less than a mile from my house so I run in there for just about everything. Well, every since they installed those self checkouts there is usually one or two "live" cashiers and 10 or so self checkouts open. It actually advertises on the thing that self checkout is "fun" to do. I can't help but to think of how many cashiers either lost their jobs or had their hours cut alot because of those things.

Our local Kroger has a habit of trying to steer people to the self checkout lanes even if you don't want to use it. I once asked how much of a discount I would get. I told them I figured 10% would be appropriate. When they told me I wouldn't get a discount, I told them no thanks, I'd wait.

BTW... for those who are wondering, yes, I already knew there wasn't a discount :D

That's why I avoid using them whenever possible.

How about the ATM's
Bank hours are being cut making it harder to make into the branch and forced to use the ATM's
