Do I tell the kids?

Looks like our trip to Disney will be moving up one month... for various reasons, DH decided to have his R&R a month earlier that anticipated (most of the reasons were with me - LOL... work wise and other commitments it was not going to work).

The kids knew we were going "sometime in March" when dad came home for the 2 weeks (Dad's idea for the trip - but it's a good idea). Now dad is going to be coming home beginning of February...

They are helping me with some of the planning of it - but I am thinking of NOT telling them about the change... I am a sap, I have grandiose visions of surprising them at school with their dad and picking them up and then heading off to Disney. Now, it may not all work like that, but I'd like to surprise them a little.

Think it will be too much for them? When they see their dad it will have been 8 months since he's been home... but once they see him I think they'll realize it's Disney time. Besides, first week of Feb is still value time... so now we even have more options...

I know that would absolutely thrill my kids. I think it is a wonderful idea! I hope you have a wonderful vacation. Good luck keeping it a secret, if that is what you decide to do! I'd be so excited, I'd burst!

Yeah I agree - surprises are WONDERFUL! If you can keep the secret, go for it! You really get into the whole secretive thing too and it suddenly isn't so hard. I booked a trip over a year in advance and DD has no idea (in fact, nobody else does either so that eliminates the worry of accidentally saying something in front of her). I plan on "telling" her on the day we fly out by writing it with her magnetic letters on her easel style magnetic whiteboard in her room.

Best wishes! How exciting for you and the kids!!!:yay::banana:

By the way, you ARE going to tell us about it when you get back, aren't you?

I think surprising them sounds great. Lucky you, now you're going during a less crowded time too!

I say surprise them. I am trying to figure out how to surprise my dd's for our next trip.
