Do I really need to buy aqua shoes for CC?

I'm down to less than 2 wks. to go and trying to finish up last minute shopping. I have my over-the-door shoe bag, disposable underwater camera, Bonine, etc... and am now debating about the aqua shoes. My girls are 8 and 6, we plan to snorkel, and I got them some. My husband and I will spend most of our time wherever they are, probably the family beach area. It's just one more thing to buy that I most likely won't use again. Are they necessary?
Thanks!

at least in my opinion, I didn't think they were necessary for the family beach.

Hi, I just got off the Magic on Saturday (amazing) and was on CC on Friday, you will not need aqua shoes. We all took them and didn't need them anywhere. :)

I agree we cruised last Nov. and I went crazy trying to buy them in Nov. after reading a post about needing them. It turned out we never used them. Brought them with and my kids took them off and refused to wear them. If you find you need them once you are there they did have them on the boat. Have fun!

Don't bother, we had them but took them off as the day wore on. You might step on a shell or coral or two no biggie!!Plus they don't dry in time to pack them on Friday night!!

I would have said that I didn't need the watershoes that I brought for myself and my DD3....BUT....DD lost her flipflops somewhere on the beach and then my tried and true sandals just decided to fall apart on me! Thank goodness I had our watershoes to change into for the bike ride and getting back to the ship! Never hurts to be prepared...

Seems like most people don't feel you need them! I bought them for our family because I thought I read a LONG time ago, on this board, that CC beaches were made of crushed up seashells, and were very difficult to walk on. Could it have changed in the past year?

We wore our watershoes for getting to/from the beach, but once in the water you won't need them. Tere are some tiny shell bits, but nothing hard on the feet, It is mostly white sand. But handy as something to wear to avoid a hotfoot around the island, and not worry bout getting them wet. :)

Our last trip to CC in 2001 I found the adult beach area fine to walk on, but once in the water, it was very shelly. I made a note to bring water shoes next trip. I can not compare the family beach since we did not go there. Just curious as to how the individual swimming areas compare or do I suffer the princess and the pea syndrome?

Thanks for all the replies! I've decided against them, so you've just helped me save another $10! I'd already bought some for the kids, but we'll have our flip-flops for the to and from anyway.
