Do I really need the over the door shoe hanger?

I have this incredible cosmetic bag (Travelon) that can hold just about every toiletry and medication my family would need for a week away from home. It unzips, folds out and can be hung up. At the behest of my DH, I'm trying to keep our luggage to a minmum. Would I still need an over the door shoe hanger?

We loved having the over door shoe holder..but it seems as if what you have will accomplish the same thing. After using the SH on the cruise it's become a staple in all our trips, I hate a cluttered bathroom counter.

I would love to know about the item you have, if it's a bit smaller I have to get one!! The SH is a bit big.

We took one and never used it. The Bathroom has plenty of shelves for toiletries. Makeup I kept at the makeup table. Beach Items, sunscreen, goggles etc. always stayed in the bag I took to the pool or the beach. I know people swear by them, that's why I took it, But once onboard I didn't see use for it.

I have a similar bag, it's the Everything Bag and I hung that in one of the bathrooms (the one designated as "mine"! LOL!) If you have the two bathrooms there are several shelves for your toiletries....

I actually used the over the door shoe holder that we brought with us, for shoes!! LOL!! I am a bit of a shoe freak, and having the shoe holder was great...I filled half of it with my shoes and used other pockets for things like disposable cameras, sunglasses, etc., stuff I didn't want to have to keep looking through drawers for or cluttering up the desk area. :)

We took one but did not use it. We kept our cosmetics, medicine, sunscreen, etc in LARGE see-thru zipper bags. These Large zipper bags were very handy for us.

I'd never heard of it till after our cruise. I've read threads that mention cat 11 and 12 are missing a few of the shelves because the bathroom isn't split. What you have sounds like it would work perfectly though.

We always use one on all our trips not just Disney Cruises. It is nice to be able to see all the misc items. However, it sounds like the cosmentic bag you have is the same general idea, so it would probably be over kill for you.

I have the exact same bag and it worked great! I just folded it out, and hung it on the back of the door. I can't imagine that you would need the over the door shoe holder, since that bag basically serves the same purpose.

I took one and used it. I loved it. I threw EVERYTHING in the pockets. I hooked it over the outside of the shower room door. It did not matter which 1/2 bath you went into, the stuff was always there. It kept things organized and together. This is one item I would take again.

Gee, I never even thought about using it for it's intended purpose, LOL! :D Given that DH is the male equivalent of Imelda Marcos (and I'm a bit of a shoe freak myself), I may have to bring it after all. It sounds like it will come in handy for taking care of the clutter that seems to follow my family everywhere.

Thanks to all who responded.

It sounds like what you have would work. Personally, I couldn't imagine a 7 day cruise without it. The 3 day...not so much to bring, but it helped keep everthing organized for us and out of the way when the cabin was being cleaned.
:sunny:

That was one of the best ideas I got from this board ::yes:: Being in a cabin with 4 girls it made our lives a whole lot easier and neater!!!

I brought mine, used mine and loved mine.

I didn't use it for cosmetics or toiletries.

I used it for my lanyard, sunscreen, waterproof camera, extra film, used film, and any other things I wanted to have handy - but didn't want cluttering up the room - like leftover candy from the theatre, sunglasses and my regular glasses.

It takes up so little room and costs so little, I suggest bringing one. You may find it useful.

Took one and never opened it up. We each had toiletries in a small bag that fit on the shelf in bathroom. Kept camera supplies, etc. in drawer.

Don't you love the Travelon products. I have the convertible travel bag/purse and the 19' wheeling suitcase.

The purse is wonderful. It's so organized to handle all travel documents, a book, cell phone, etc.

We considered bringing one but in our previous cruises we've never seen the need. With the split bathrooms and lots of drawers etc and dresser it was totally unnecessary. Now there is only three of us so that may impact on that opinion. However two are females and my daughter can change outfits three times a day and still feel restricted:rolleyes:
If you have the space in your baggage take it IF you feel it may be of assistance, but for us it wasn't.

Cheers,
Grumbo
