My family is going on our first DCL cruise on the Fantasy. Do I need to pack an alarm clock or are there alarm clocks already in the cabins?

There are alarm clocks, with Ipod docking stations in the stateroom.

You can use the alarm in the room, a wake up call by Mickey, or you phone alarm.

Should I assume the 'old' Wonder does not have these new fangled amenities?;)

Or if you have a smartphone you always have an alarm clock with you.

I haven't trusted or worried about a hotel room alarm for years, since I've had a smartphone.

As soon as we leave port, I turn off my phone and leave it in the safe. Partly because I am on vacation, and also I don't want to accidentally have any charges on it.

I take an alarm clock....a small travel one.....half the time, I can't figure out how to work the ones onboard or in hotels, and I don't always trust them.

But usually, our "wake up call" is room service delivering coffee. :hyper:

I have never had a problem setting alarm clocks in hotels, but I could not figure out the one on the Dream. There was even a little card with directions and no matter what I did I could not get it to work. I ended up using my phone's alarm, which by the way is not a smartphone. Just don't forget to put it in airplane mode.

tossed my alarm clock. My iPhone has been far more reliable than my alarm clock ever was. Added bonus. Whenever we would go on vacation I would always have to study the alarm clock to figure out how to set it and because I'm a freak, I'd have to test it just to make sure that it 1) worked and 2) was loud enough and 3) I can set it correctly.

Now, I never worry!

I hate the clocks on the Dream, when we got into our room it had been set to military time with 2 alarms set...took me a while but was able to reset it to regular time and turn off the 2 alarms...I just used my cell phones alarm and was sure to have it set to airplane mode.

I hated the one on the wonder and couldn't figure it out, my stateroom host had to do it for me!

Call me a control freak but I use an alarm clock app on my IPad when I travel anywhere! I don't trust using a strange clock and have had a few oddly timed "wake up calls" from the hotel's automated system:confused3. So I do it myself and know all is well. :thumbsup2

They have alarm clocks. You can ask for a wake up call, or just use your phone. The alarm clock does have iPod dock but it is the older style and not the latest slim version. I found the clock to be bright at night until you hit the dim button.

Enjoy the cruise!

Our alarm clock was set by the people before us for 6:44 am!! :furious:

We couldn't figure out how to turn the dang thing off...plus it was sooo bright it kept me awake. Unplugged it after that.
