Do I need to buy Magic Bands for upcoming trip?

My family is renting DVC points for the first time and we have linked this in our MDE. We were planning to buy our park tickets from either parksavers or undercover tourist in order to save a little bit of money, but now I'm wondering will the magic bands be included with our package if we do this or do you have to buy the tickets from Disney? We have always booked everything directly with Disney and have always had the magic bands included and we enjoy getting them each year.

Where you buy your tickets has nothing to do with magic bands.

I have never rented DVC points so I cannot say for sure what the norm is but I'd assume like any other Disney World resort reservation you would receive magic bands.

As a DVC member, we always get magic bands sent to us. I would assume it is the same if you rent points, since the DVC owner simply puts your name on the reservation rather than their own. We bought our tickets for our last trip via Undercover Tourist and still got the bands.

My brother rented DVC points for an October trip, and bought tickets from UT. He got magic bands as part of his resort reservation.

I think the thing that triggers getting a free magic band is having a resort reservation in MyDisneyExperience. The bands will be sent to you 30 days or so before the date of check-in. I think you get bands even if you don't have tickets loaded in MDE because they still serve as room key.

Yes you will get bands but even if you didn't, if you have some from a previous trip they will still work as long as they are attached to your MDE account. I stopped getting bands about 3 trips ago because I already had two in every color.

You will receive Magic Bands because you are staying onsite. It doesn't matter that you rented the points. You can buy your park tickets anywhere and then link them to your MDE account.

Since you've already linked the reservation in MDE you should get an email from Disney to customize your Magic Bands and after you choose your color,etc, they will ship them to you. Buy your tickets wherever you get the best deal. Undercover Tourist has some good prices right now. Then link the tickets in MDE.

Even if you do nothing, when you check in to the DVC resort, they will have plain gray bands for you.
