Do I Need Priority Seating For H/V Fantasmic?

We are going in January. We will be there form the 17-23. I'm thinking the 19th is when I want to do Hollywood and Vine. However, of all of the meals I have planned, that is the one that is my least MUST DO. I will also need to make PS for 50's Prime Time during the same time. My DH and I are going to HV and my parents and my kids are going to 50's. Is it necessary for January to do this? I want to see Fantasmic, but is the package the best option? Is it necessary?

I think my problem is that my priority reservations have been to easy. My DH and I both called on Cinderella's breakfast. I called, it was closed. DH called two seconds later, and they were open. Got reservations with no problem. The day before we got our Illuminations Cruise with no problem. Didn't call until about 10 after 7. I called to make reservations for the Luau about 6 months ago, and we were the first reservations to be taken for that night. I know that I've been lucky, but it's just seemed to easy.

Will I be disappointed if I dont' make reservations for HV?

The Fantasmic dinner package is something that you need to book. simply eating at H&V will not get you into Fantasmic.

Sorry. I did a horrible job explaining myself. Here's the thing. I really would like to see Fantasmic. We are planning on doing that in the evening without our children. We don't necessarily HAVE to eat at HV, but we don't want to stand in line forever for Fantasmic either. I want something nice to do with DH in MGM. Should I just book it and do Fantasmic, or would I be fine just eating wherever and going to Fantasmic. Is it that busy in January?

Well if this is "date night," then I reccommend you book the fantasmic dinner package at the Brown Derby instead.

I dont usually reccommend the BD because I miss the pixie dust when im there. But without kids its a whole different ballgame.

Its a nice, upsacle, large but quiet place for dinner.

Whether BD or H&V or Mama Melrose, for that matter, you have to book the dinner package to get the seating. Even if you can get a table without a PS, I dont think you can get the Fantasmic pass without it.
