Do I need DAS to get a red stroller tag?

Hi! Wondering if someone can help clarify the process to get a red stroller tag ... do I have to get my daughter approved for DAS to qualify for the tag?

She's 4.5 and has JIA in both knees. We are headed to WDW the first week in June. I'm absolutely bringing the stroller to get her around the parks and I really hadn't considered that we might need it for the lines. But she had a flare up last week and just standing is painful for her right now. I'm hoping we can get some treatment prior to our trip to mitigate her pain and swelling but all the walking I know we're going to do has me nervous now. She's 95% percentile in height/weight for her age and there is no way I could carry her through a longer line.

Thanks in advance for any tips/advice.

I don't think so. It just gives your stroller the same rights as a wheelchair for accessibility purposes. No need to go through the DAS process, although when you ask for the tag, they may offer it so you may as well try for it if they do.

This is also a time you can get a wagon tagged, normally not allowed at WDW, if that works better for you. But I would stick to the stroller, because a wagon sounds awful in bendy lines.

But if you need her legs elevated or something, a wagon is an option.

Even with a legitimate medical need like this getting wagons approved is hit or miss. Some people get them approved for medical reasons but more are turned away. No way to know until you're at the gate. If you hope to take a wagon best to have a back up plan just in cade.

Thank you, this is super helpful. I'm going to talk with her rheumatologist but I don't think we will need a wagon, I have a Mclaren Quest that she is typically pretty comfortable in.

I was at WDW with my mom and two kids in March. I had a broken arm at the time. I went to guest services at Epcot and asked for the tag. I explained I could not carry my son (13 months does not walk, I was clearly in a hot pink cast) in the long lines, and my mom has a horrible back and was struggling to hold him. They gave us a tag for the stroller right away. Our only regret was we did not think to ask for this our first day there (got it the second park day). It made a huge difference in our enjoyment of Disney.
