Ok I heard somewhere that you can make 180 +10 days of ADRs before you actually book a room but then I heard that you need a reservation number. The reason I ask is I still haven't booked I know I need to but part of me wants to wait and see what the offers will be later. So if I can make my ADRs for 10 days on my 180 day mark without a room yet? But how do they know I will stay at a Disney resort? Anyone could just do it then? So am thinking you do need a reservation number am I right? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 Casn you tell I'm :confused3 :confused3

Everytime I've called they asked either for my confirmation number or my phone number (phone number to bring up my information). They were able to tell me my name and my family's ages and where we've stayed.

It is a benefit to staying onsite so hopefully they are strict about this onsite perk.

I'm not positive....but I think I read somewhere that you don't need to be staying on property to make ADR's anymore. You can give the CM your phone number rather than your ressie #. But...I'm not 100% positive...I am sure others here will clarify this issue! :thumbsup2

You do not have to be an onsite guest to make ADR's - otherwise how would locals ever get to eat onsite? And believe me, they do.

For example, I'm waiting for an AP rate to come out for September, but I called and made reservations because I know we'll be going - however the AP rates probably won't be out until about 2 months before we are able to go - putting me 4 months behind others.

So the answer to your question is yes, you can make ADR's without a room reservation at the 180 day mark - they're just treated like any other restaurant that takes reservations.

The OP wants to book all her ADRs at 180 days that is why she wrote "180 +10" which is a perk to staying onsite.

Yes, anyone can book ADRs at 180 days BUT they cannot book up to 10 days worth of ADRs with one phone call. That is an onsite perk. So when you say you want to book all your ADRs they will ask for your confirmation number or your phone number.

So the answer to the OPs question is no, she cannot make 10 days worth of ADRs at 180 days without an onsite room confirmation number.

Exactly.

The above poster is correct--180+10 reservations (where you can book up to 10 days of reservations at your 180 day reservation booking mark) is only a benefit for on-site resort guests. You will be asked for your Disney confirmation number when booking 181-190 days out and it will be verified.

Alternately anyone can book a reservation 180 days prior to their requested dining date with or without an on-site reservation.

It is that 10 day extra booking window that is the on-site benefit.

I just called last week and booked without a room. In my defense, however (before I am flamed to a crisp, lol!), we WILL be staying onsite. I simply canceled our previous booking a few days before that and am re-booking the same room with our AAA discount, since we are new members. I was never asked for any type of confirmation number, although I do believe she asked me where we would be staying. Not 100% sure about that, though. :confused3

Oh and I booked for 6 days, too, on the very first day possible to book, so I definitely got the +10 perk without a confirmation #.

I did just that on May 2nd. There goes that theory! I love WDW to pieces, but they can be so confusing and inconsistent.

You are lucky and got an un-informed CM.

Those who are not asked for a confirmation number - if you are calling from your home phone, it's possible that the CM on the dining line may have your name and number on caller ID, which would automatically bring up your ressie info on the computer, thus making in unnessecary for them to ask for your confirmation number or phone number.

Just a thought...

I know what you are saying, but the fact is that I don't currently HAVE a room reservation. It was canceled the week before I called (got my refund and everything) and my AAA agent has not yet made my new reservation (this coming week, she will, YAY!)...I haven't paid a new deposit or anything like that. So I really did get the 180+10 without having a room reservation at all.

So just to recap...

Only resort guests should be making their dining reservations 180+10. (Call 180 days from your arrival date, not 190. And know that not all the restaurants you want will be available. Cindy's still sells out their advanced availability really quick. So for that one you may have to wait till 180 days from your dining date. Just a tip to avoid a meltdown when you're told nothing's available. Not that I've done anything like that. ) And only resort guests with a valid confirmation number should be allowed to book for that window.

Anything else is swim at your own risk. :)

That sounds correct to me, Madam.
