Do I NEED a fantasmic package?

Right now I have an adr at MM for the fantasmic package but based on reviews of the food and wait times I wouldn't be eating there if it weren't for fantasmic. Last time I was at DW in 2010 we skipped fantasmic because of the line so I really wsnt to go this time. We will be there in about 2 weeks on a thursday - 5 crowd day according to easywdw.com.

I would get ADR that included the show it is nicer to sit at restaurant eating joking then standing in line for more then hr or two

We have gone to Fantasmic! 3 times, and never had a package. The only time we got there more than 30 minutes early was in 2010 when they were only doing a couple shows/week and demand was far exceeding supply. On our trip last week (w/ similar crowd levels to when you are going), DH and DD arrived about 5 minutes prior to showtime and had no trouble getting great seats.

I can't speak for every night of the year obviously, I would think that the package is more important on busier days. I also heard that they were starting to issue FP's for Fantasmic! but that was right after we left so I never looked into the details.

Edited to add - while we've never done a F! package, we've eaten at MM several times and always enjoyed it. It's usually one of our quickest TS meals. I know most of the reviews are not great, but that hasn't been our experience anyway.

I would keep it only because they are testing fastpasses for Fantasmic and the dinning area has been front and center. Not sure how long this will continue but they have done it for 2 weeks now

Need? No. I'd rather do it than have a substantial wait though. We just did the package at MM and enjoyed it. No complaints about the food at all.
