WE are 2 adults 0 kids and wonder if we will have to share our sci fi "car table"
with other people? (we made a ps )

thanks!

Hello.....the cars are usually in 3 rows..2 per row all facing the drive-in screen..

You will probably have to share your car, but as you can see from the picture posted by StarWarsMan, you won't actually be sharing a table. We've been to Sci Fi several times and have "shared" a car each time, but it honestly doesn't feel like you're sharing since everyone is facing the same way and your actual table isn't connected.

Yes, you have to share your table. The only way out of this is asking to be seated at the picnic tables near the kitchen. These also may seat more than just 2 people. I would pass on the Sci Fi and dine at the 50's instead. Better food and you can get a table for 2.

Good point. Looking at the picture, it doesn't seem much different than back to back booths in a diner. I'm not a great sharere sometimes (a bit anti-social at times) and I would not have a problem with this set up. Great photo too, Star Wars Man. Thanks!

sorry but i disagree and i'm not even antisocial ( well usually:) )

we HATED this set up with only 2...we got the back row of a car with a family of 4 ( 2 in each row) had to wait for them to be seated , all six of us, even though we were in no way connected with them(??), wait till they were ready to order their food to order ours( ????) had to wait for our burger and soup while they ate their appe(???????) so they could bring all the entrees at one time(?????????) never saw our waiter unless he first went to them...it was crazy and the tables are narrow so we felt like we were ease-dropping on their conversation the whole time...I hated it

we had more privacy at biergarten than here

We had four of us at SciFi. They seated us at a car for 6 and sat another pair behind us. With all the cars for four available, I didn't like it very much. Sure the others are in front or behind you, but when you already have some of your party in front or behind you, additional people sharing your car are just too much. It turned me off. We won't be going back for quite a while.

Is there ANY WAY we can somehow get Disney (official) clarification on
this rule?

I DEFINITELY no way, no how, want to Share my table w/ any family or anybody!!!!!

Can't we tell the seater-person / receptionist?? that we have a PS and
want a private Car for just us 2?

I agree w/ the last 2 posts that it would annoy me too if i had to wait for
a family to order their food , etc. etc. etc!! How annoying!!! I wouldn't stand for it! I also would hate the fact that you hear everybody talking and yapping away RIGHT behind you - how gross!

How can we get clarification on Official Disney Rules for Sci Fi Dine In seating?
and if we are wdwinfo.com members, shouldn't WE get a type of status ??

Being seated with other parties at Sci Fi has always been my experience as well. You may request a car to yourself, but I wouldn't count on it. Sounds like you should probably just choose a different restaurant. Stay away from Biergarten and Teppanyaki also. Also, many of the WS restaurants have very close tables.

if i had it to do over again, i'd probably go some where else... considering the rest. was 1/2 full when we went, i think they only want to seat full cars as all cars around us i noticed were done the same way if they had less than a full car in a party..you could ask for one of the "concession stand" tables but they looked like plastic outdoor furniture and not real comfy ( didn't look really close so i could be wrong) imo the food wasn't worth it and in 20 yrs of going to disney it wasn't an experience that was a highlight so one i could have done without

The tables are so close to the back of the seat in front of you, that if someone you don't know with very long hair is in front of you , it can get on your table and in your food. It is good theming, ok lunch bad dinner. the cars are designed to cram as many people as possible. There are much better "drive-in" table cars on the market that offer coups, sedans, and station wagons. (that would be 2, 4, 6's) but they would not seat as many as what sci-fi has now.

We sat in the front of a car douring our honeymoon, and that wasn't bad at all (there were just the 2 of us). However, the entire seating situation is less than ideal. If you have more than 2 people it is almost impossible to hold normal conversations b/c you are all siting 2 by 2 facing the same direction, and if you have 2 people you do (sort of) share a table. I agree with someone earlier - at MGM, try the 50's Prime Time Cafe for a different type to fun, themed meal.

We were a party of 4 and had the first 2 rows of a car. The last row of our car was seated maybe 5 minutes after we were. Our party received service when we wanted/needed it and the "hitch hikers" in the last row were treated completely seperate from us - ordered food at different times, waiter showed up at different times, etc. Maybe it depends on the attentiveness/ability of each wait person?
Suspect it would be difficult to get a car all to yourselves unless business was slow at the time you're there. They're just trying to maximize the number of people they can serve at a given time.... (which most of the time is a good thing!) This may not be a restaurant that you'd enjoy - or if you do want to do it, maybe you could pick an "odd" time that isn't busy.
Have fun whatever you do!

Our Sci-Fi experience....dd, 10, and I ate there last Dec. We were there at the opening time with PS. We were seated in the last of the three rows/seats. About 5 minutes later a family was seated in the first two rows. The lady in front of me did have long hair that kept swiping at my 'counter' space!! We felt very crammed in. The food was marginal and we could barely read the menu or see our food due to the dim lighting. Yes, I know it's supposed to be at a drive-in. Will we go back? Nope. Much prefer the food and seating at 50's. BTW....the restaurant was only about 1/4 full at the time. They could have put this other family in the car next to us and the server would have still been able to serve them.

Can someone tell me if you NEED PS's for the 50's Cafe and/or Sci-Fi drive in?

HollyJoy-
Last year when I went in early December if I didn't have a PS for the Sci-FI for lunch, I would have been turned away. At that time they were only accepting people with PS because it was just too busy and telling the walk-ups that they could make a PS for dinner if they wanted.

If it is some place you really want to go, then it wouldn't hurt to make them.

I have no problem with sharing a table at Teppanyaki. It's part of the experience. But sharing an intimate car with another family or couple just isn't the same.

Is there enough room in the cars for a baby's carrier or a booster seat?
