We are staying at hotel new york next month, when we check in, do i have to leave card details with them?
just because, the day after we get there, i get paid, so was hoping to leave my bank card with my brother, so he can take the cash out, then forward it to me on my spare thomas cook cash passport thing.
OR i just had a thought, would i be able to use my debit card while there? like in shops and that?

You can use your debit card in the shops. Better still, if you register your card with HNY at check in they will give you a card (someone will remember what it's called) that you can use in the parks, village, hotel etc - all your purchases will then be put onto one bill which you pay at the end of your stay. Especially useful for the beginning of your stay before pay goes in!:rotfl2:

Ps We loved the HNY when we were there in 2007 and we're finally going back there in August!:cool1:

I might do this option after reading things on this. I think it does sound alot easier to pick up your gifts from the large disney shop after tea or even your hotel shop before going to bed.

You can do this anyhow however you pay for your purchases (as long as you are in one of the Disney Hotels Im not sure about the associated hotels). You have to buy them before a certain time though- think it used to be about 3pm. It means you arent carrying everything about all day so is a good option

We have never had to fill in our credit card details when we have stayed at the Cheyenne. The receptionists have said we did not need to, like other posters have said perhaps this is for using the card for charging to the room. DH has banned me from this card he knows i will get carried away and we will be left with a huge bill at the end :rotfl2:. MIL has used it and we collected the items from the hotel gift shop.

You're right, you don't have to give a card, it's only if you want to.

The associated hotels do offer the shopping service too. :thumbsup2

If anyone uses the shopping service remember to say you want to use it before the CM starts charging your purchases through the till as the receipt is done differently.

we have had reports here previously about Disney carrier bags being stolen from pushchairs in the parks (ie when you park your pushchair to go on a ride with your little one). I personally wouldn't leave any belongings with the pushchair.

Its very simple to have your shopping delivered to the gift shop in your hotel. I never leave my card details at my hotel reception, but always use the hotel delivery service for my souvenir shopping. Just buy (before 2.45pm to be safe), tell your cashier you want the items delivered to the hotel, and then keep your receipt. In the evening when you're back at your hotel, nip along to the gift shop and your purchases will be there waiting for you :).

so can i still do this without giving my card details? think it would be a good idea

yes, no need at all to give any card details and you can still use the shopping delivery service :).

Same here ~ we've never given our card (don't think the Explorers where we've always stayed previously participates in this anyway) but we've nearly always used the shopping service unless it's been a very small item which can fit in my handbag. If you do miss the cut-off time you can still ask for it to be delivered, it just won't be ready for collection until the next day though so don't get caught out the day before you travel home! :rotfl:

Thanks everyone, but quick question, see the carrier bags are they diogradable, same as the disneystore uk ones are? just cause the disneystore ones i have had in the past, fall away in your hands after a few months, i wanna keep the disneyland bags as a souivner :) and also do you have to pay for them, the same as disneystore, think there 5p in our local one.

I don't think they are, i still have some from back in 2006 (that are still going strong) right up to last years. They do not charge for bags. I had once where i bought a small key ring and the cm insisted i took a carrier bag i could have just popped it into my own shoulder bag to save on theirs but i had to take one:confused3

you can buy big "for life" bags there, they are 5 euros. You don't pay for the carrier bags of any size which you get with your purchases (I've still got a few of them in various sizes). We once bought so much stuff in the store in the Village that we got it all in a bin-bag size carrier bag with drawstrings to carry back to the hotel - its fabulous and we've still got it :worship:.

oooo I have a couple of those draw string really large bags too Elaine. We use them for keeping old baby clothes in. I used them to put clothes in when we moved.

i thought the bags would come in handy for giving gifts out in, will be buying 12 little keyrings for my son to take to his friends at rhyme time, so will use bags for that hehe

When you buy the keyrings explain that they are gifts for your DS's friends and hopefully the CM will give you a small bag (party bag size) for each one - they've done this for my three DDs in the past.

oh thankyou, will try that. the keyrings wont take much room up in the case, so we will be able to buy more stuff for us :) hehe
