Do I have to cancel meal reservations if I cannot make them?

I have a few that are quite tight - like first day in, not sure I'll make the dinner meal, park day not sure I'll make it from park a to park b in time for the lunch meal, etc.

Thanks!

Unless it's a meal with a credit-card hold, you aren't required to cancel your reservations.

That being said, I'm sure a lot of people (especially on these boards) would appreciate if you would if you know for sure you won't make it, as it would open up that space for others.

It would be nice if you did cancel them. Some people who may want your ressie will have the opportunity to eat at the restaurant you have reserved. Some places may even charge your credit card if you are a no show (signature dining and Princess meals).

I was on the deluxe plan my last stay and by day 2, realized I could not eat 3 meals a day. I called and cancelled my lunches for the rest of my stay.

If I were you, I would check the reservation system again and look for some ressies that you know you can make. That or arrange your meals around where you plan to be so that you don't have to run to them.

Even if you cancel the day of, there will be somebody who wanted to eat there who now doesn't go because they "know" there isn't an opening so your table goes empty.

Yes, I'm going to look for later and if not available, I think better to cancel the lunch sit down and go for counter service. I think it will work better for the midday.

This way I can justify multiple ice cream stops as well :)

Thanks.

It's great if you do cancel the reservations. We're at WDW this week and next, and I'm trying to get some reservations that I couldn't get. I've also cancelled some resevations that we weren't going to use this week as well. It's nice to give others the chance to use them. :thumbsup2

Am I allowed to post what I cancelled?

there are thread for cancelling reservations for the month you are going, check it out!!! lots of people post before they cancel so other board members can scoop them up!!!

i think its helpful to others to cancel,
I totally wasnt informed enough for my trip and didn't realize that I could make reservations without actually having my trip planned, so I had a hard time getting any reservations!!
still trying to get some i really want, so I check the cancelled board multiply times and day and go on the disney site trying to see if anything opened up!
especially for my sons 2nd bday!!!

Going to ressies board to post my cancels. Hope someone here who is so good to others can use them. Sept 11 and 12

Yes. It's a courtesy not only to the restaraunt, but that family that wanted to eat there. but could'nt get a resercation.

We always have one or two ADR's that we decide we cannot make, and I always cancel them. If you're staying onsite, you can do it right at the resort Concierge desk - they can also look for new ADR's for you there. If you're in the parks already, you can call the dining number from your cell, or go over to guest services.

It couldn't be easier, and this way the ADR is available for someone else.
