New Journeys January WISH 2026

Friday night was my first book club meeting. This was a big step for me...going out on a Friday night after working all week, in the dark, in the winter...not something I do comfortably. To make it worse, the person hosting is someone I do not like or respect, and she lives two towns away from me. But, I was determined to try to be more social for my well-being. So, I asked a coworker if she wanted to carpool, and she was happy to drive. So, I drove to her house, and she drove us the rest of the way. Parking was an issue, so luckily, we were the first to arrive and got a good spot. My principal got lost trying to find the house, so I am really glad that I didn't go alone. The majority of the people were coworkers that I like, so I ended up enjoying myself. I got home later than I would have liked, but it's fine. The next book is kind of creepy and definitely nowhere close to my genre, but I'm going to make the effort in order to get myself out there instead of staying home and watching tv.

Saturday, I just did household chores and recovered from the long week of school. We got some light snow, but no big deal.

I love to eat out. Going to the diner for pancakes and bacon is delightful, but I guess dinner in a fancy restaurant would be my favorite. I love a good steak and some kind of chocolate dessert. Although, when we are in Cape Cod, I love to go to Pepe's for dinner, have the colossal shrimp and coconut cake for dessert.

Today, Sunday, we finally took down the big tree. I've been gradually taking down Christmas decorations. Tomorrow, I will try to work on the tree in the dining room. It's been snowing all day, and it's beautiful. I'm cooking a new beef stew recipe for dinner. I'm so happy to have tomorrow off for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday.

DH and I saw Clue last night to celebrate my birthday and since it was a short show grabbed dinner after. The restaurant was closing in an hour and we didn’t want to go overboard with apps and dessert etc so we just had dinner and drinks.
Today DH tried to fix a blockage under the sink. How successful it was will become more clear over the next day or so. I made soup for DS13 for when he has his wisdom teeth out next month. Not really self care but it will make life way easier in the days following the procedure so taking care of my future patience.
Tonight was the pats playoff game which was great. Not just because they won but it was actually a good game.
Witnessed my first gecko skin shed today care of Liam. It was fascinating and somewhat gross. But shows he is growing which is good.

MOTIVATION MONDAY

The big astrological activities continue... we've just moved from the planets being in Capricorn to Aquarius. This week things are going to be rocking and rolling and the energy is going to be quick and rapid. And we're in a purge cycle where we need to clear out what isn't working for us.

Are you feeling this energy? Is it helping you to get motivated or wearing you down?

My schedule got changed and I am back at the facility this week instead of next week, so apologies for posting late.

For me, I am feeling the shift in energy from pausing and waiting to full steam ahead. I'm in the mood to strip-mine the house, but it has to wait until I get back home Friday. And I so want to toss stuff... a lot of stuff. I'm also in the mood to getting my garden going and have to keep reminding myself that it is still winter, if we get any snow it is usually in February.

So motivation this week is to get things in the project fixed so we can all get a break and move on.

Girrrrrrllll!!! I am very much ready for rocking & rolling, quick & rapid! Yes to purging!

I just finished taking ALL of the Christmas trees and decorations down. I have started decorating for Valentine’s Day. DD is hosting her second annual Galentine’s party on February 7th which has my motivation going. I ordered more cookie decorating sugar and some pink and red heart twinkle lights. I actually began making Valentine cards with my students last week because they (we) have been so overwhelmed with standardized assessments. Whenever I feel us getting weighed down by the things that shouldn’t matter, we do Art.

I have made a pledge to myself to take baby steps and declutter little by little during household chores. It helps me feel lighter.

I am hoping that this quick and rapid purging phase helps me out with my challenging student. Since Christmas, his violent behaviors have escalated. We have yet another meeting this week, and the current buzz is that changes may be on the horizon. I am praying while trying not to get my hopes up since the district continues to let me down again and again.

TOPIC TUESDAY

There was a lot of chatter around January1st that we were entering the Year of the Fire Horse, but that transition is based on the Chinese New Year, which happens Tuesday February 17. In the meantime we are navigating a string of significant astrological events, the latest being the Capricorn New Moon Sunday.

Some of the themes around what is happening are:

  • old outdated patterns will dissolve so that new rhythms can emerge
  • relief after a long period of pressure
  • what is false will lose it's grip and we will gain clarity without drama
Here are some journaling prompts to use privately to help us focus on the potential of what is happening, or to share here if you care to:
  • What are you ready to build?
  • What are you willing to release to make that possible?

I am ready to build a new chapter for myself. I can’t count on anyone else, so it’s up to me to have the life that I want. I have already started working on it.

I am willing to release things that no longer serve me well.

I'm ready to build a healthy life with more people in it. This has been my vision for several years, but I've never gone thru the exercise of identifying what I'm willing to let go of to accomplish it. So here are some things that aren't serving me that I'm ready to let go of:

Spending so much time alone. I definitely need quiet down time, but I want a relationship where we are both happy spending time together but alone. And I want a circle of friends that fill me up rather than wear me down.

Telling myself that being exhausted at the end of the day is expected because of being neurodivergent. I have done really well being here at the facility so I know I can handle being in the office differently/better.

Telling myself that I can't manage food because of being neurodivergent. To gain and maintain health I just have to do it. I can do it.

I read somewhere that people who study numerology also consider this a "Reset Year" because the digits add up to 10. (This would mean 1900, 2008, and 2017 were also reset years.)

What I am ready to build is new habits and traditions. 🗓️

What I need to release is spending too much time on my phone. Whether I'm ready to follow through on that is questionable. :rotfl:

But the time for those new habits has to come from somewhere, so I'm working on it.

I made soup for DS13 for when he has his wisdom teeth out next month.
Both of my kids had theirs out. DD this past August and DS 2 years ago over Christmas break. Both ate lots of mashed potatoes. We usually make them homemade but I can't seem to make then without lumps so I made them istant. DS did great. They had him on an antibiotic for 5-7 days as a preventative. He didn't get an infections, thankfully, but picked up what we think was hand foot and mouth (we think DD had it a week or two before so it was just bad timing). Not fun. He lost so much weight.

DD's was horrible. We had to go through the local dental school that is linked with the hospital for hers. Because she has a clotting issue she needed to have an infusion of platelets before and then a stay in the hospital that night just to make sure bleeding was under control. This dental place was horrible and gave me no info. Not even someone to call if we needed to. They did not put her on an antibiotic (she might have had a dose or 2 in her IV while there but nothing at home). She wasn't allowed to have anything that would reduce inflammation (due to the clotting issue) so she was so swollen. After a few days of her being miserable we gave her advil. Nothing was helping. After about 3-4 trips to the dental school, they discovered that she had an infection. Once she started the antibiotic things turned around so quickly.

I hope your son has a really easy time with his.
DH and I saw Clue last night to celebrate my birthday
Happy Birthday!! I love Clue. Such a great movie.

I don't feel any different with the astrological changes. I have never been in tuned with that. I will say that out of the blue I decided to buy a Kindle. I am not a huge reader at all. I am pretty sure I didn't even read a book in 2025. So this was a big deal. I got it last Wednesday and I already finished a book.

Woohoo... only two and a half more days here on site. I think we resolved the largest issue in my area yesterday, so the pressure is reduced and we can tackle other things.

Woohoo... I'm getting my hair done Saturday, always a treat. And I was able to change the appointment to include color.

And woohoo... I feel like my legs are back to normal and I've got good freedom of movement.

This came up in my Pinterest feed yesterday, and I'm adding it to my vision of what I'm building this year:

THANKFUL THURSDAY

In the spirit of the Year of the Snake coming to an end and the Year of the Horse starting, what are a couple things that are thankfully coming to an end (or you would be thankful if they came to an end). And what are a couple things that are thankfully starting (or you would be thankful if they do start).
