Do Guarantee rates (IGT,OGT, VGT) ever drop?

We are looking at the West bound transatlantic cruise and they have released the IGT,OGT,VGT rates. Do they ever decrease the price after they post these? ( I seem to remember last years prices being lower than the current ones ).

Sadly, last year's prices are always less than this year's. For practically everything.

I’m waiting for some real-time input.

I know I had a price drop (like in half) for a Med Cruise. Went from $2K to $1K pp. But I can’t remember when it occurred. Well, definitely before PIF date. That was such a fluke. Or really poor memory on my part.

I think that any inventory left after IOV/T rates are offered probably get offered at Cast Member rates.

No rants on this forum about discounted rates being dropped even lower.

Earlier this year I was thinking about doing a early May Magic cruise. I watched the guarantee rates and they did drop further so I ended up booking it. I was glad I did at the time because shortly after the guarantee rates went back up a couple hundred. I met a a Disney World CM on the cruise who I talked with quite a bit. I mentioned what I paid, and she didn't tell me how much she paid with her discount, but she said it was more than what I paid.

But I don't think that this happens a lot. The cruise I was on was definitely not sold out.

We book VGT several times a year on the fantasy. I have never seen a VGT rate drop. We have missed out on several VGT rates because we waited too long to book - the rates were only offered for a short time and then went back to regular price.

I did a quick count of all the available verandahs and it looks like there are about 270 across all categories. I assume that folks that have booked VGT bring that number down, but that seems like a lot of availability to me ( and why I asked the question). The VGT rate is about $1500/room lower that the cheapest Verandah room.

How do you find out the number of rooms available please? Or is this only for travel agents?

We are tons on the fb group to have a guaranteed room and guaranteed rates for cm and ta have been out for quite a while already too so counting doeent make sense anymore.
Never seen guaranteed rates drop further

I bet he did what I do - count the rooms available online that are still offered. As mentioned, that number may take into account VGT bookings. At some point, remaining available cabins could all disappear. In the meantime, guests can still pay more to choose a cabin.

Yes, it's not unheard of for *GT prices to change. No guarantee it will happen, though, and they can pull it at any time. So if you really want that cruise and the price is acceptable, you run a risk of not going or paying more if you wait hoping for a lower offer.

I went in as if I was booking and went through each category and deck and counted them

It was a 4 night Bahamas cruise out of Port Everglades with a stop at Castaway Cay.
