Do fastpasses need park entry to be used?

Just wondering if anyone had tried to use a fastpass without the other people who actually own the magic band going into the park?
We were wondering if we could make the most of Grandad's when he was having rest time out of the parks?
Thank you

I would think that once inside the gate using your own Magic Band that using your grandfathers MB could be used for fastpasses.

I may be wrong as I have yet to expierence the MB yet. :confused3

I would think as long as the band was scanned in at the entrance , the fast passes would be active I wouldn't try using a non scanned MB at a ride , the software in the system may show the band as stolen at the ride kiosk, and say confiscate , then you might have some explaining to do. Disney has the right to revoke all tickets if you try defrauding the system.:sad1:

Yeah I can see that happening also. I wouldn't use another person's MB though to get into the park as you have to scan your fingerprint and it wouldn't match up. So I guess all in all it probably won't work.

Disney is smart and has thought of everything we have thought up before us and have precautions in place for such an occasion. Can't get nothing by on them :(.

Hi, don't think op was going to use MB to get into park, but take the extra MB with her to use an already booked fast pass and save it being wasted or cancelled.
op, my DD and I use to use my DH and DS paper fast passes if they didn't want to ride so don't c why u cant use a fast pass on the magic band. but have a feeling the MB has to b activated on entry for fast pass to work, I'm sure there is a post already on here on the same subject, maybe someone will post a link to it
cal:)

At this time, ticket validation is not active on RFID so yes, FP's on a "non-park entry" ticket may be used. Ticket validation is possibly going to be be activated on Sep. 1 but who knows for sure whether it will be or not.

The last report I heard said that you COULD use a MB that was not activated at the park entrance. If this loophole is still there...no idea when or if they might close it. I cannot imagine they would ever accuse someone of stealing a band...WORST case would be they would say the band was not used for park entry no the FP+ couldn't be used...but again the last report I heard was that you could still use it.

Rumor is this loophole is the next item on the punch list to be turned on. It was a feature of legacy FP. You couldn't get FP with a ticket that had not been used at the gate.

For a truly historical view FP+ roll out was just like legacy FP, with respect to this. Legacy FP when it first started you could put ANYTHING that was credit card shaped with a mag strip on it into the machine and it would spit out a FP. Then one day that stopped working and you got the "not used for admission" error.

When you scan a MagicBand at a FP+ gateway, it shows the name of the person to whom it is linked... So, if you are a female, don't bring a male member of you party's Band for yourself.

Nobody will care about that.

Thank you everyone. You were absolutely right, I wasn't using Grandma and Grandad's magic bands for park entry. We have our own bands for that. Was just going to make the most of the fast passes whilst we could! Can't really see why anyone would think we have stolen the band. Maybe it's worth giving it a try!

"Nobody" is a pretty strong word. There were (and very likely still are) posters on these boards that always got their knickers in a twist over this kind of stuff.

Nobody that matters will care about that. ;)

Interesting to hear they are going to be closing this loophole.

If you take his magic band to try this, make sure he has a key card to get back in the room (if you are staying on site).

Copy that.

So what about if you have a ticket to MVMCP? If I go to another park in the morning and do not book FP+s there, can't I book them for MK (4-7pm)? I won't be using my MB to enter MK.

Yes.

(Unless and until Disney decides to enforce the "ticket must be used at the park gate" to get FP+.)

When I first joined this board last month I remember reading a story how someone was in line for a ride and the woman in front of her opened her book bag to reveal 8 MBs owned by people not in the parks that day, all with 3 FP+ booked on them.

Sounds to hard to keep track to me
