We are looking to rent points and wondering if free dining comes up if you can do that with a DVC reservation?

Sure, if you purchase a package that include tickets from Disney Reservations Center (DRC). Using points for a DVC stay is not part of a package from DRC, so you cannot get free dining with a points stay.

Free dining in an incentive to purchase a package through Disney. Disney has never been known to give out anything for free.

DVC members get free rooms, not free dining. Nothing is really free at Disney anyway, it's just a marketing strategy. While you may not be paying for the dining plan, you are paying full price for your room and park tickets. Disney almost always has room discounts available so if you calculate how much more you're paying for a non-discounted room, you're still paying the exact same amount of money for your vacation. I'll take my free DVC room.

Free dining is a discount that's offered through the Walt Disney Travel Company, when you purchase a package that includes a full-price resort reservation, the dining plan, and tickets.

When you rent points, it's sort of like renting your coworker's condo or house at the beach, in that it's a private transaction with an individual. So none of the discounts, deals, or packages that are offered through Disney Reservations are available to you.

DVC members can purchase the dining plan at the regular price, so if you'd like to add that to your reservation, just let the member that you're renting from know.

Free rooms? :confused3:confused3

Me thinketh thou hath drunketh too much kool-aid, LOL.

DVC is not free - we paid a hefty amount up front and continue to pay maintenance each year. :)

Free rooms? What about the $14,750 I paid in 1999 and the $108 a month coming out of my checking account for dues?
