Do DVC members have to pay a fee to use gyms in DVC resorts?

We'll be stayig at BCV and VWL in September, we've never used any of the gyms before, but now that I'm on a strict exercise regimine, I'm interested in using the gyms at both DVC resorts. Will I have to pay a fee to use the gym? Also, any info on these 2 particular gyms would be greatly appreciated.

I'm only familiar with the VWL health room (Sturdy Branches) but it is very nice with nice aerobic workout machines.

I didn't actually use them , but they looked very nice when I wandered through while exploring the Villas.

Also, for a change of pace, you can walk over to Fort Wilderness and back. We did that each morning and it was a very nice walk along a secluded path. Even saw a deer one morning!

hi: there are also jogging maps for the epcot resort area. if you are going to jog, it's easiest either early in the morning or later at night. for us, it's just too darn hot during the day. i can't remember the distances of some of the routes, but i do remember the distance around the lake is 8/10 of a mile.

Gee I wonder if this is only for certain resorts.
We just came back from Beach Club Villas and two of my teens wanted to use the Health Club. They were charged $15 each to use the club for 2 hours. They showed the DVC cards but were told they had to pay. I guess I should call someone.
Anyone have any idea who I should call? Peggie

Wildly guessing here but I suspect it may be because the gyms in the other 3 DVC locations are actually in the DVC building.

Assuming that the facility is in the BC and not the BCV the $15 fee would make sense. Worth calling about however...it could just be the word that DVC'ers don't pay hasn't reached the gym desk.

There should be no charge for DVC members at a DVC resort. This includes BCV. I think the CM may not have heard this yet and charged by accident. WL and BW gyms are not in the villas, so that does not hold water for those resorts.

Just wondering . . .we rented points for the BCV in Nov. (We're not DVC'ers) Do you think since we're using these points we'd be able to use the gym facilities free?

The gym at Wilderness Lodge is in the Villas. It's on the ground floor.

I was at the BCV one week prior to opening and was advised there maybe a fee. When I brought this to the attention of the DVC representative arranging the tours she advised that there should not be fee for use of the gym. She thought since the facilty was just opening the word had not yet been communicated. However, Disney had cast members staying at the BCV testing the villas. I would think that the no charge for DVC members should have been communicated by now. I would suggest that you contact the hotel manager and member services, if necessary. There should be no charge for DVC members. You are paying for this service in your yearly membership dues. Enjoy!

We're having a big family gathering in October at BWV, five different rooms all using my points. Will the room keys that the other folks get say DVC member on them so they can use the gyms?

Last year I had two studios at BWV and all the keys had my name on it. I was advised that the limit for gym use is four per stay, without having to pay a fee. Since only three of us used the gym it was not an issue. I have not seen this rule in writing and I am not sure they enforce this rule. At the BWV the staff were flexible and accomdating. Thanks for the response. The keys for the other rooms won't have my name on them since I want them to put their own credit cards down for room charges. This is where I get confused as to when a room key says DVC MEMBER on it. I've heard that only the member gets it on their keys and I've also heard that anyone that's getting a room on DVC points gets DVC MEMBER on their room key.

My first trip to a DVC resort was OKW and I rented the trip off of Ebay from a member. My keys then had DVC member on there. You could get any discounts that applied to a DVC member. So apparently, whenever someone stays on points, whether they are a member or not, they are entitled to these privileges.

That's my guess.

Actually the Health club is located on the BWV's side.

RAD the room keys for all of the rooms will have your name on them. Whoever makes the reservation will have their name on all the keys even if others are using their own credit cards. At least that is what has happen on our past trips. Last November we went with my MIL and she had her own room and her own card on the charges for the room. But my name still appeared on her room card. I thought that it was a bit strange since they were charging to a card that didn't have my name on it and she was signing her name to the charges, but my name appeared on the room card.

the gym at VWL is located in VWL - yes it is free to DVC members so is the one at BWV - sometimes you find a CM there that does not know the DVC policy if they try to charge you just ask them to contact their manager.

Found the same whenever we go. Once the reservation was in my sisters name, but my family arrived first and i checked- still all the cards had her name on them - so its definately the reservation name on the keys
