Do Co-Workers And Family Think You Are Mad ?

I also get the weird looks here at work or tell folks we are going again. Its the ones who have never been that do not understand the lure of Disney. Last year was my first time at 36 years old... say the least i'm hooked! :) I also have the McDonald Happy Meal Characters on my desk..... just getting ready to go back with my family on Nov. 30!!!

My own children! We took them when they were young teens and older teens. Both times they thought they were too cool for WDW and too cool to do anything with their parents. Now we have made 3 trips without them. They whine a little when we leave, but they don't really care. How did I get children who are not into WDW???

The last my little one came with us was at age 16, since they've been in college we've gone more than when we had them home!!! I always say, Disney World WITH kids is wonderful, memorable, special etc. but Disney World without kids is Fantastic!!! That being said, I'm so excited to take my niece next week I can hardly stand it!!! ONE WEEK TO GO!!!

Disney Freak, Disney Lady, Nuts, Crazy, yep, been called them all. We go there for our sanity, when you can just leave reality and your troubles at the gate for a while and loose yourself in the experience, it does wonders!!! I always wonder how they keep all the bags of troubles straight at the gate, cuz I always seem to get the same bag when I leave!!! :rotfl:

We are the Disney experts. Right now I am helping a coworker plan her first WDW trip.

I have been sitting at my computer trying to figure this out... too cool for Disney? I just dont get it. Im almost 20 and not too cool for Disney. In fact, I turn into a little kid! I think I have even more fun now!

My co-workers think im a nut job going down there so many times. They always ask why are you going down, whats new that has been built there. Some times its nothing. Other times its a new planter or an attraction was being refurbed so we need to go see it :teeth:

Havent been in over a year though. Its ok im planning my own trips.
Maybe one that I leave with a girlfriend and come back with a future wife :love2:

Mine have given up on us! They now come to us for expert opionions. :teeth: The best part is the looks on their faces when I tell them that I am booked at Ft. Wilderness from June 1 till Aug 5. That's right, 8 weeks of Disney (and the campground) for the summer. They just shake their heads and always add at the end....can we come visit one weekend? :rotfl2:

they think I have completly lost it!!!!!!!!Now my boss just says "I dont want to know" when I ask for vacation time. In 2006 WE are sandwiching a cruise inbetween disney for a total of almost 3 weeks of DISNEY!!!!!!!! :earseek: plus another week in Dec for the wonderful christmas decorations!!! and I dont care what anyone thinks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

::yes:: Next trip will be our 4th w/o kids (they're both in college). We love it-freedom to do WHAT we want WHEN we want.

Eeyore, we took our niece & nephew in '04 and had a blast. Hope you do too!

Well I was there this past September and will go again in December 2006. It's definitely my new "Las Vegas". I probably went to Las Vegas once or twice each year since about 1999. In my office, I always got the "fish-eye" for going to Vegas so much. People asked me the same question, why do you keep going back to the same place? They would tell me, branch out and live a little. Well okay, I did! I went to Disney, now I can't wait to go back and in a few years, all these same people will be asking me that same question!!

I had a fabulous time in Disney World and there was still so much I didnt see or do! I gotta go back!!

Thinking we're "mad" :earboy2: is an understatement! We've gone alone and we've taken our girls over the last 16 or so years. Sadly, my teenage daughters uttered the words that we had been dreading when we were there in August..."Can't we go somewhere else?"....so after alot of deep thinking....we're going in February without them! As for friends and family, they all think that we need to try Vegas! I don't! Even if we cruise, we manage to fit in a little Disney time!

Where I live. Disney in all forms seems to be "politically incorrect" so not only would I get looks for saying I was going to Disney World but scowls. At this point I'm pretty amused by it! I feel sorry for those folks who are so bitter over how they think a "corporation" is brainwashing children that they can't enjoy the simple pleasures of WDW. I've just learned to branch out and make friends with the people I know love and enjoy Disney as much as I do. And I don't often tell people where I am going on vacation, it's none of their business anyway. I just say I'm going to Florida or, like the cruise we just took on the Magic, that I'm going to the Caribbean. There are plenty of other places in the world I want to see, but Disney is just what feels good to me right now so I'm going to enjoy it!

My partner and I had a funny episode the other day, went to a club to see a friend's band play, the band was kind of an indie rock type thing, not OUR crowd, but it was for a friend. Anyhow, after the show we got to talking with some people and the fact that we were just in the Caribbean came up. So the people were interested and asked what we did there. So we said a Disney Cruise. And the looks on their faces! They were incredulous! I mean really just shocked. They couldn't believe someone who would go to their indie rock show would be the same type of person to go on a Disney cruise. Ha ha ha! :rotfl: Guess we're breaking stereotypes everyday!

My mom gets  about it and I just don't get :confused3 why she gets so upset about it. We do others vacations and we have the money so why does she care?!

Yep. They just look at me and shake their heads...

They just don't know what they're missing.

Edit:
200th post! Yippee!

We have now become known for our being Disney fanatics. It is no longer a shock to the people who know us. Maybe the people who just meet us but that is quickly overcome.

It is so ingrained as a part of who we are that any time we get gifts it is always Disney related. We even have people who buy Disney things at flea markets or yard sales for us. I just got a really cool clock this week from someone who was at a yard sale.

This year we went on the Disney Cruise, visited WDW twice and will be back in December. The total days for this year will be 35 days at Disney. We had reservations for September but this wind storm (Katrina) stopped us or it would be more.

Call me what you will just call me at Disney!

OK, I'm old..... what the heck is an "indie rock" type thing? :confused3

I'm a Disney fanatic and haven't even been yet! my friends and co-workers think I'm crazy, but everyone is entitiled to their own opinion. They like doing beach holidays and to me, sitting on beach or by the pool is the same no matter what country you're in - just plain boring! To each his own - the less people who want to go to Disney just works out better for the rest of us!!! :cool1:

When I mentioned last week to one of our customer service reps that we were leaving in 45 days or whatever it was to go to Disney for Christmas she said "weren't you just there??" I replied "Yes, we were there in June but we've never been at Christmas and the opportunity presented itself so we are going." she then asked if I was going to get into therapy for this addiction she was serious. I said " Nope, we'll just go again in May that's my therapy." Most people who know me know this is part of who I am and accept it others (some family members) just roll their eyes. As dd gets older we probably will go other places but we will ALWAYS squeeze in a WDW trip. Everybody's got a laughin' place....

Probally so for me since i called my niece and she said,''You went to Disney again. How many times have you been done there!?Alot?"

I replied and i am going to Disney next September to!" :rotfl2:

While we love WDW (going back again next month after returning a few weeks ago)...it is not the only place we travel to. JMHO, there is so much to see, so many different things to experience just in the USA alone. While we  WDW, I do think by making it your only vacation destination, you are cheating yourself and your family of the "real" thing. WDW is a man made theme park, while fun, there are so many other great places to see.

Don't flame me...but you did ask!

My husband has decided that I am obsessed with going to DW. I think it's boring when we go to other places for vacation. I like staying out late and coming home more tired than I was when I left! :earboy2:
