Do celebrities have to wait in line, too?

We saw Hulk Hogan on the Rockin Roller Coaster about 5 years ago. He did not have to wait in line. He entered through the exit.

We were waiting in line to go see Winnie the Pooh in Toon town (this was the day the 75 Mickey's were unveiled). We had a long wait because Janet Jackson was in there and getting her picture taken with Pooh and Tigger. We were first in line for pooh and my dd kept asking what was taking so long and I told her that Janet Jackson is in there. She then said, "Janet Who?? I don't care who is in there, she should have gotten in line" :rotfl: I have no idea if she was heard or not, the cm just stood there chuckling :lmao:
Your daughter's response was priceless. :thumbsup2

Maybe it took so long because she had yet another costume malfunction! :rotfl: :rotfl:

We saw Celine Dion a few weeks ago at the Magic Kingdom. She had an escort and was going around the line somehow. I am sure they were probably bringing her in another way. To be honest with you no one else seemed to notice her. I probably would not have either had she not stopped right in front of me while I was waiting for my husband. She looked like any other mom on vacation with her family.

I am not an Aerosmith fan but I ran into Steven Tyler in Vegas 2 years ago. We were waiting for the elevator together and rode it up with just me, him and his two bodyguards. He was very nice, I didn't want to bother him so I didn't say anything, but when the doors to the elevators opened he let me on first and then in the elevator struck up a conversation asking how I was enjoying my stay, etc.

He was also at the pool one day in one of the cabanas, the cabana was closed off so you couldn't see inside but when there weren't many people around he did jump into the pool for a dip to cool off.
OMG! I almost spit my Dr Pepper!:rotfl2:I probably would have peed myself like a nervous poodle.:rotfl2::rotfl:

Crazy4mandms, DD and I saw Aerosmith in January in Dallas. They were GREAT! So was Lenny and Ted Nugent even showed up unexpectedly and did a number.

We also rode Soarin last June with Celine and her party.

Why shouldn't they wait like us.

My problem is I wouldn't recognize a celebrity if they came up to me and said, "Hi, I'm a celebrity". I could be in line behind Angelie Jolie and I would just be standing there wondering why everyone is pointing and staring at this hot chick in front of me. ;)

I totally agree, there are lots of times people I know WELL will be in a store right next to me and I won't notice them until they say something to ME! If I did think I saw someone famous, I would likely not be able to decide if it was really them or just someone who just LOOKS like them. I definitely would never approach someone.

BTW, great thread !

Love in an elevator!
I can't be the only one who was thinking that............ :goodvibes

I bet it depends on the level of celebrity too. I was in line picking up pictures at the front of AK and Derek Lowe was there with his family back in 2003. I only knew who he was because I am an avid Red Sox fan, and people around Boston would know who he is, but in WDW? It was pretty exciting for me at the time, but no one else in line had a clue as to who he was. Plus, who'd recognize him when you've got Mickey Mouse?! Needless to say, he was waiting in line with the rest of us, and then got on a resort bus, just like the rest of us (and he was nice enough to take a pic with me). I wouldn't expect someone as recognizable as Michael Jackson or Tom Cruise to be on the bus to CBR though...anyway, we were down the weekend that they filmed the Christmas parade, and while we knew there were celebrities out and about, we didn't see anyone where we were. Celebrities are just people like us (not counting Michael Jackson of course, since he's such a nut case) and should hang out with the rest of us if they aren't smart enough to use their fastpasses effectively ;)

We were there this summer and Dennis Quiad was there with his son. We were at Typhoon Lagoon and they had him a table off by himself but he did wait in line with everyone. We were waiting for the family raft ride and my DD 10 saw him and said in that loud preteen whisper Oh my God its the dad from parent trap. he turned and looked and I shrugged and said sorry he said thats fine then proceeed to have a 5 minute conversation with my DD about lindsey lohan. Then my precious child even offered to let him ride in the raft with us. I am sure he got a chuckle out of that.

I'll bet you it has to do with the status of your celebrity...I couldn't take the chaos of people bugging celebs while on vacation, so I wouldn't care it they cut the line...Although, I have seen so many celebs at other places like NYC, Yankee Stadium, casinos, concerts, and I never think about who it is until after I already pass them. I am notorious for "Wasn't that (insert name)?" I wouldn't even recognize them if I had wanted to. As far as WDW goes, I saw Joe Piscapo a couple of years ago in the gift shop at the end of the Winnie the Pooh ride. I didn't recognize him at all, but my husband did. He and his family had a guide with them, so I am sure they cut the line to get on the ride. He honestly could've waited in line, though. As far as I'm concerned he's a has been. What has he done lately? A small spot on The Apprentice? He even backed out of that!!! Whoop-dee do!

I agree with the sentiment, however, for security reasons and plain old practicality, it truly is necessary for easily recognizable celebrities to receive special considerations. Not so much because they are "special" per se but rather because other guests could create a security/safety risk by crowding around them wanting autographs, etc.

Furthermore, they are also on vacation themselves and deserve some privacy and respect. Sadly, there are many who forget that celebrities and their families are entitled to these things; despite having careers that often put them in the public eye.

Providing special access allows Disney to control security risks for all guests and give their celebrity guests a modicum of privacy during their vacation.

One time at Epcot I met a really nice CM and struck up a converstaion. IT was August and hot, and one of the kids I was with was buying a water. We got to talking and I was telling him how crowded Test Track was, the wait was unreal, and the Fast Passes were gone. He smiled, and then gave me four VIP passes to get on rides through the exits. I aksed how that worked, and he told me just like a celebrity, go to the exit of the ride, show the pass and they will take you up. I have to say it worked like a charm, and everyone was looking at us like we were very important. I felt so special....

I think that certain celebrities should have an escort and to be honest if they want to get on a ride first it would not really effect me. I think if someone famous like Tom Cruise was just hanging out in line to ride Peter Pan or something it would cause more of a back up and attention and would make my wait time longer.

It is surprising how quickly a crowd can gather and how it can get out of control, also. It is true celebs get paid a lot of money and for that they do give us some things. Unfortunately there are many fans, unlike most of us who are reasonable, who are fanatic and cross the line.

Having been on the receiving end of it ... almost having my son trampled because a fan wanted us out of the way ... even though we were with "them" ... I can understand the special consideration.

Again, it depends on the "level" of the celebrity, how popular they are at the time, security considerations, etc. While they may go in a different entrance, the celeb still "rides" the ride with whoever else is on that particular car, etc. They just get in and out quickern -- unlike those of us who do it the old fashion way through fast pass and standing in line.
