Do celebrities have to wait in line, too?

It depends on the level of celebrity. If someone like Madonna is there, you know she's gonna have an escort. But I know that Taylor Hanson (from the band Hanson, who is now indie) went with his wife and son and had no escort at all. He said that some people did ask for autographs but it wasn't much of a bother because he is not a huge star so crowds didn't form around him and the pics/autographs only take a minute.

Just Magic Kingdom has the tunnels, though i have yet to see them.

Yes, there is a VIP pass they can get to either go through the fast pass line and or through the exit, but 99.9% of the time, they are accompanied by one or more guest service CM. It is mostly to keep a crowd from forming, and for the safety of them and their children/family, as well as the other guests. So for a good number of them, it's not so much "i'm too good to wait in line," but "i really don't want to cause a commotion and take away from my family's vacation to sign autographs."

Exactly what I was thinking. Can you imagine how many times they'd be stopped? When you're at a book signing or show or autograph session, that's one thing. But when you're on a family vacation you want to relax with your family (well, most people do I'd say!).

Ha ha, also in saying that...I saw Steven Tyler at the BWI. I couldn't resist waving! I felt like such a dork, but he smiled and waved back. :thumbsup2

My problem is I wouldn't recognize a celebrity if they came up to me and said, "Hi, I'm a celebrity". I could be in line behind Angelie Jolie and I would just be standing there wondering why everyone is pointing and staring at this hot chick in front of me. ;)

That's because without hours of hair and make-up and perfect lighting they are not hot...they look like non-celebrity people.

I used to work for a lux car dealer in the hamptons. Celebs would come in all the time and I honestly did not recognize any of them....nor did I care. They are just like you and me. Most are unrecognizable, well to me anyway.

Ok, I have to admit, Steve Tyler is hot! But I'm almost 40 and have been rockin with him around for 23 yrs (first time I saw them in concert). I was just a bit surprised that 17 yr old girls thinks a, what, gotta be 60-something man would be hot!! More power to him!

When at EPCOT in May 2003 we saw Michael Jackson....I don't like the guy at all but couldn't help feeling sorry for him as he was simply trying to walk down the street and mobs of people were all over him. He kept saying "thank you, thank you" and tried to keep walking...the mob was beginning to overwhelm him. Not sure how it all turned out as we didn't stand around gawking. I couldn't imagine how that mob would hold up the lines in an attraction and would rather have him go through the exit.

If I ever saw a celebrity getting escorted around a long line to the front, I admit, it would bother me.

Granted, they have a right to privacy as well as anyone else does, but they're no better than anyone else (except for a financial sense).

This gives me an idea - Maybe the next time I go to a park, I'll dress really oddly as toa ttract attention. Maybe Disney will realize that I'm creating a problem and escort me to the front of the line :woohoo: - Either that, or throw me out of the park. :sad1:

It depends on the celebrity. When I was there in January, Joey Fatone (from NSYNC) and his party was backdoored all over the MK. I saw them do that for Buzz in Tomorrowland. Then at the SADCT parade, I got to sit next to him!! I was so happy. He looked just like a normal guy with his family, except I knew who he was.

OK I have a friend who works in guest services at the MK and as part of his job he gives the VIP tours. He has given tours of some to some of the people who broadcast for ESPN during the ESPN weekend . He also gives the tours to Levar Burton every time he is at WDW, ( My friend is a huge Star Trek fan). Mr Burton has taken my friends family out to dinner and took him to U/S with him. He is a very nice guy.

I had another friend who used to work at the Moroccan pavilion and when i was at Epcot one day he was at the kidcot station this is a while ago when they had the station outside in the front of the pavilion. I stopped by and was sitting with him while he was at work. Vanessa Williams and her kids came by.

I live in NYC and see a lot of celebs in Manhattan and occasionally some of the are patients at my hospital so I never go nuts when they are around. I didn't even talk to her. I dint think I even said hello I kept talking to my friend when he was working.

I remember many years ago (I lived in Orlando) when Princess Diana visited WDW. The local TV station was asking for anyone with photos or video of her to send them to them. That night on the news they showed all these shots of her walking through the park and sitting down watching some of the shows. Somebody even captured a shot of her standing on the balcony of her hotel room. I kind of felt sorry for the poor woman, not a BIT of privacy.

1) Steven Tyler is not at all and never was appealing to me. On the other hand, his daughter Liv, must have dropped straight out of heaven :goodvibes

2) Angelina Jollie has not likely ever looked ordinary a day in her perfect life :thumbsup2

3) If Tom Cruiese goes to WDW, he had better have security w him. I may not be the only mommy there that day who battled severe post pardum depression, and I wouldnt mind putting his 2 front teeth on a necklace :rotfl2:

Ofcourse, maybe Im the only one who sees things this way :scratchin

I am not an Aerosmith fan but I ran into Steven Tyler in Vegas 2 years ago. We were waiting for the elevator together and rode it up with just me, him and his two bodyguards. He was very nice, I didn't want to bother him so I didn't say anything, but when the doors to the elevators opened he let me on first and then in the elevator struck up a conversation asking how I was enjoying my stay, etc.

I just can't stop giggling, thinking about how I'd probably be humming 'Love In An Elevator' . . .

"Love in an elevator!"
I was thinking more along the line of: Going down? hehehehe

Come to think of it I saw Neil Patrick Harris from Doogie Howser about 15 years ago whne he was real big. And Buzz Aldrin. Both were in the line for the Animation Tour like normal people.

Anyone can book one of these--but they are rather expensive.

We did a regular tour in Disneyland last December, and had a number of comments as we walked by regarding who we were, why we had an escort, why we were allowed to cut in line...

I can't imagine a well-known celebrity navigating crowds on his/her own during peak times at Disney! I barely manage for my nondescript, ordinary family! :sunny:

With regards to security, didn't Reese Witherspoon and her kids get hassled at Disneyland by some photographer/paparazzi. I think CM's got pushed about a bit, it was all very unpleasant. I can see why Disney would perhaps suggest for some stars that they had an escort. Presumably it's up to the guest though.

I was in line picking up pictures at the front of AK and Derek Lowe was there with his family back in 2003. I only knew who he was because I am an avid Red Sox fan, and people around Boston would know who he is, but in WDW? It was pretty exciting for me at the time, but no one else in line had a clue as to who he was. Plus, who'd recognize him when you've got Mickey Mouse?! Needless to say, he was waiting in line with the rest of us, and then got on a resort bus, just like the rest of us (and he was nice enough to take a pic with me).

Lucky duck!

I  DLowe! I met him a few times during their autograph tours a few years ago before he was one of our World Series heroes. :goodvibes

Sorry, I'll compose myself now.

When we were at Universal IOA two years ago, Hulk Hogan was with his friend Brian Knobbs and some other women along with a tour guide. They snuck into Dudley Do-Rights through the back entrance and ended up in a log behind us. It was cool to see Hogan soaking wet at the end.

If celebs waited in line with the rest of us, there would probably be a lot of commotion. Not that I think its right they get special treatment, just a safety issue for them and their :crazy2: fans.

Can you imagine if Michael Jackson walked through WDW without an escort??!! Lots of angry parents would start throwing their diaper bags at him. Me, I'd just hurl a turkey leg at him :rotfl: :rotfl2:

doesn't steven tyler have a home? you guys have seen him all over the country. :) I'm sure there's someone famous on WDW grounds nearly every day of the year.

I agree with the sentiment, however, for security reasons and plain old practicality, it truly is necessary for easily recognizable celebrities to receive special considerations. Not so much because they are "special" per se but rather because other guests could create a security/safety risk by crowding around them wanting autographs, etc.

Furthermore, they are also on vacation themselves and deserve some privacy and respect. Sadly, there are many who forget that celebrities and their families are entitled to these things; despite having careers that often put them in the public eye.

Providing special access allows Disney to control security risks for all guests and give their celebrity guests a modicum of privacy during their vacation.

I agree to a point that it could cause a disruption or draw a crowd...but a lot of these people mentioned aren't "super" stars. I think that when you accept a high-profile, high-paycheck job in acting or entertaining there are privacy prices to pay. There are trade offs to any job, and every entertainer knows that when they accept that obscene pay. Just like a football player knows that he could get a life-long injury...
People need to "get over" themselves. If they want to visit a vacation destination with their family, they should get in line with all the other familys. If they need extra security close by for comfort, they should bring their own.
