Do "Cancel of CRT" posts ever work?

I asked this on another thread but thought I would ask again separately.

I asked a CM this morning about cancelling a CRT reservation and trying to coordinate with someone to get my spot, and she said it was unlikely to work. She said there's so many CM's and so many people calling for this, that they usually get booked immediately after being cancelled.

Has anyone actually had this work? I don't see anyone trying to coordinate times, but it seems like that might be necessary.

I cancelled and "gave" my ressies to someone else. It ended up that she called a few minutes after me, but I was still in the process of cancelling mine when she got through. It takes several minutes to cancel because a supervisor has to be called and they have to take your name and address to confirm that it is really you who is cancelling. The lady waiting asked the CM if she could wait until my cancelled ressies came through and she got someone very nice who let her do it. She got my ressies as soon as they came through on the system. Apparently they went through right away. We called on a Sunday morning, so maybe that was a slower time??? Good luck!

I got my original CRT by calling right after I read a post.

By good fortune I got a different date today, so I left a post hoping someone could use my old time.

Is it possible to do a conference call with you, Disney Dining and the person who wants your ressie and give someone your ressie while you are cancelling your one that you don't want?

Yes... I did a conference call with someone who was cancelling and got her reservation. We used the Disney Club number, though, so maybe they are more accomodating there. The CM just seemed slightly amused, but you might get someone who wouldn't want to accomodate you.

I coordinated giving mine away by using Yahoo Messenger. The person I gave mine to was on Messenger and able to call WDW Dining on another phone line (which is what I did). I canceled my PS and she was able to get it no problem.

Last year we got 2 PS for the same day(2 of us were calling). I posted here I would be cancelling and someone PMd me asking for me to call right before cancelling. I did and she was able to call a few minutes later and get it.
